Horseshoe Cottage is a traditional, terraced, stone-built cottage tucked away on a quiet lane, in the heart of the picture-postcard village of Freuchie at the foot of the Lomond Hills in rural Fife. After spending a day exploring, Horseshoe Cottage provides a cosy and welcoming base to retreat to, and is perfect for a romantic weekend in the countryside. The small enclosed garden is an added benefit where you can enjoy a pre-dinner drink or, weather permitting, enjoy an al fresco barbecue. From your front door you can walk to the local hotel for a drink or a meal, explore the friendly village down old lanes with well-kept gardens and out into the surrounding countryside. If you enjoy walking or cycling there are miles of lanes and quiet roads to explore.
The historic conservation village of Falkland, with it’s fairytale Renaissance palace and gardens, are only 2 miles away and makes a great day out where you can experience a day in the life of the Stuart monarchs and visit the extensive gardens. Wander around the medieval village where properties date back 300 years and stop for a refreshment in one of the tea shops or places to eat. For fans of the epic TV series Outlander, the village was one of the many locations filmed in this area.
The property is ideally located for a golf break, with 52 golf courses in a 25 mile radius, and St Andrews, with it’s championship courses, can be reached in under 30 minutes. For exploring further afield there’s Dundee with the V&A Museum and harbour side, and Perth can be reached in under 30 minutes. Sandy beaches at Leven are only 10 miles away and the Fife Coastal Path, for coastal walks to secluded coves and old fishing villages, can be joined here. Beach 10 miles. Shop, pub and restaurant 500 yards.

Lovely, clean and well equipped cottage, parking is about 100m away so be prepared to carry your luggage, the bathroom is on the ground floor and the stairs to the bedroom are quiet steep but we managed ok, The village itself lacks anywhere to have a meal but there is a well stocked shop nearby, we found all the locals to be friendly and the local pub is a gem. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay visiting the local sights and would recommend the cottage.

We had a lovely relaxing time exploring the local area based from this comfortable, well equipped, cosy cottage.
The only slight negative was that the cottage directions weren't overly clear so it took us a while to find it. Also the parking is a bit of a distance away so best to unload your car from the road rather than the parking spot.

We had a great time at horseshoe cottage it was very clean and well presented a great place for 2 people the only thing we did not like was the electric cooked we found it difficult. To get on with I have a gas hob at home and I don't like fancy tec things plane and simple I would go back as it is a great little cottage and the owners were very helpful with the cooker. I highly recommend staying there you will have a great time especially if you are a outlander fan as there are plenty of filming places to see in the area.

it's very small but very well appointed.
it's very small but very well appointed. It's the only holiday cottage I've ever booked where the knives were sharp. It was warm and comfortable and all worked very well.

This is a lovely cottage ,very very comfortable and the mod cons so everything you could want or need for a few days away. The welcome pack was an added bonus. The location is quiet but with a car you have no problem accessing other sites in the vicinity. A trip to the next village to see Falkland Village and Palace is a must it is the most picturesque village I have seen in Scotland .
