Private 10 acre getaway! The property itself consists of 10 acres, 2 of which is a semi-private championship bass finishing pond (There have been 10 pound bass pulled out of there!). The property is gated at the entrance and surrounded by hundreds of acres of woods and farmland. The only neighbors are across the pond. The pond is down the hill down a flagstone path where you will find a gravel fishing beach, picnic table and peddle boat. Right outside of the house is firepit with supplied wood, picnic table, 2 hammocks and around the campfire comfortable seating. We just completed the construction of a 16x32 inground, saltwater swimming pool complete with pool heater. A flagstone path from the house will lead you to hours of family fun around the pool. There are 2 picnic tables at the pool as well as 4 lounge chairs and benches. The home itself is a 4 bedroom 3.5 bath plus 2 car garage. One of the garage spots is used for a commercial workout machine which you have full access to, the other spot is available for parking. The home is a modern, open living floorplan. Kitchen, dining and living rooms are all together so that your group can enjoy each others company to the fullest during your stay. The master bedroom is on one side of the house and 3 more bedrooms on the other side of the house. The master bathroom has a 2 person traditional sauna. The kitchen is equipped with a high end Ilve range for that chef in your group with gas cooking, griddle and double oven. Huge quartz countertop with 4 counter stools are there for your entertaining. The dining table is 120" and seats 10\. The home is appointed with everything that you could possibly need for comfortable stay. Just bring food, coffee and a bottle of wine and we'll handle the rest! \* A note about the heated pool in off season \* Typically between Nov-April each year the pool is either not heated or the pool heater could be running but can fail to adequitely heat when the weather gets too cold. The pool heater does not work when it gets below 45° at night and takes up to 48 hours to catch back up after a cold zap. We do not guarantee that a heated pool will be available during these months. Ave Maria Grotto, in Cullman, Alabama, is a landscaped, 4-acre park in an old quarry on the grounds of St. Bernard Abbey, providing a garden setting for 125 miniature reproductions of some of the most famous religious structures of the world. It was added to the Alabama Register of Landmarks and Heritage on February 24, 1976, and to the National Register of Historic Places on January 19, 1984. The stone and concrete models are the work of Brother Joseph Zoettl, a Benedictine monk of St. Bernard's Abbey, who devoted some 50 years to the project, the last three decades (1932 to 1961) almost without interruption. They incorporate discarded building supplies, bricks, marbles, tiles, pipes, sea shells, marbles, plastic animals, costume jewellery, toilet bowl floats and cold cream jars. Born in 1878 in the Kingdom of Bavaria, Brother Joseph was maimed in an accident that left him slightly hunched due to cervical kyphosis. He immigrated to the United States as a teenager, settling in northern Alabama. Soon afterward he began studying at the newly founded Benedictine monastery of St. Bernard, where he took his vows in 1897. Br. Joseph was not allowed to be ordained as a priest, due to the rule of the period that stated any man with a distracting disability could not be ordained a priest. He ran the monastery’s power plant and was, even by a monk's standards, a withdrawn, quiet man. We caught tons of fish at the pond, and had an absolute blast with the pedal boat. The pool is immaculate. This property is so good! The house is immaculate, well stocked, and very functional. We had a 2 family (w/ young kids ages 7-11) extended weekend stay and didn't want to leave. The boys fished while the girls swam and lounged by the pool. The skies were beautiful. Great outdoor area for grilling. Plenty of things for the kids to do without leaving the property. My family had an great stay and an amazing time. It feels very secluded and is very quiet. If you're looking for peace & quiet away from the crowds but still have some fun things for the kids to do, this is a great place.
