They incorporate discarded building supplies, bricks, marbles, tiles, pipes, sea shells, marbles, plastic animals, costume jewellery, toilet bowl floats and cold cream jars. Born in 1878 in the Kingdom of Bavaria, Brother Joseph was maimed in an accident that left him slightly hunched due to cervical kyphosis. He immigrated to the United States as a teenager, settling in northern Alabama. Soon afterward he began studying at the newly founded Benedictine monastery of St. Bernard, where he took his vows in 1897. Br. Joseph was not allowed to be ordained as a priest, due to the rule of the period that stated any man with a distracting disability could not be ordained a priest. He ran the monastery’s power plant and was, even by a monk's standards, a withdrawn, quiet man. Except for the ants who invaded us and the location was terrible. It was right next to a very busy boat launch access with speeding drivers. The public restrooms right next door was a surprise and was a steady flow of nefarious characters around the clock. The evenings were filled with joy, but sometime a 2018 black mustang’s peeling donuts in the boat launch parking lot made for much noise and sleep distribution. The lake access was down a ways at a public pier. Checkin was easy The workers at the Lake store/Park Office were all friendly & knowledgeable of area. The employees at the swimming pool were attentive & very friendly & we enjoyed very much. There was a basketball, pickle ball/tennis court, putt-putt golf. Cabin was clean, pots, pans, utensils, towels all furnished. The mattresses were comfortable. There was a great view of the lake.Afishing peer just 50 feet away, and the boat launch area. Enjoyed the stay & the area. It was a little strange with the public restroom being 10 foot away, there was people using it at all hours. The beach area should have a bathroom area of its own to cut down on the traffick. It was uncomfortable thinking about it the first night but the area is nice & in a good place. The park employees and grass mowers were about the grounds daily and the park looked well kept and clean. We enjoyed watching the boats & seadoos launch and to load up. Nice quiet area & friendly people. Great staff that runs the office, does the booking, the store is well stocked with most things you would need including drinks and ice, snacks, fishing supplies, swimming floats, just anything.
