The hosts are fantastic and make you feel so welcome, their home-cooked food is just amazing (and extremely generous portions!), and the beds are just so comfortable that we get the best night's sleep. The location is perfect as it's so quiet and quaint - although Devon Council should really support their local businesses by mending the excessive potholes in the approach roads!! The very old thatched inn (dating from 1370) is absolutely beautiful and set in a gorgeous and tiny Devon village. The food is always freshly cooked and excellent, including the breakfasts, and the couple who run it are so welcoming. Of course the main attraction is the 41 year old and very chatty parrot, Captain! The staff are so lovely and very attentive. Breakfast is really good and served to your needs, my partner is gluten free and they always have different options available. The rooms are clean spacious and in great condition. The rooms do get cold due to the nature of the old building but they provide you with blankets and even electric blankets. A beautifully updated thatched inn with great food, a very warm welcome, and a parrot with character! A little difficult to find as it's located in a tiny village off the beaten track - but that makes it extremely quiet and atmospheric.
