We told the owner about the roaches the day we arrived. He offered to send the exterminator back out, but since the place had just been sprayed we thought it would be okay. It wasn't and we contacted the owner again, informed him that this was a cleanliness issue. His response was hateful and we called VRBO. He told us to get out, we would get a refund for the rest of our stay.The owner told us that we shouldn't expect a Marriot, this place was meant as a cost effective option. Yes, it was cost effective, but that doesn't mean that roaches should be accepted. We said we wouldn't say anything else and he said we could stay. We had hoped to be able to use the grill, but it has been so poorly maintained that it was not safe to use. The shower spray holder is broken and must be held up by a zip tie. We kept our clothes in vacuum bags to make sure we didn't bring roaches home. We kept our food in the refrigerator or in sealed bags. TAhe stove was so filthy that when I dropped a stove insert, black powder went all over the stove. The light in the shower only comes on if you fiddle with the exhaust switch.The owner believes that bugs and poor maintenance is the price one should pay for a low cost stay.We have stayed often in VRBO homes. None of them had roaches.
