Amazing little hideaway.
Spotlessly clean, well appointed lovely small house. Birdlife just outside the window is astonishing. We didnt leave the property for 2 days! Definitely hoping to go back. A blissful retreat.

Idyllic Getaway.
Small but perfectly formed - this tiny house is ideal for a peaceful, relaxing getaway for two. The house is spotlessly clean with an excellent use of space. Stunning river views from the window and many different types of wildlife outside the window create endless entertainment without the need for the TV. This is an excellent base for exploring the surrounding area and only 15 miles from the coast. Friendly and informative neighbours and a very novel but comfy bed. We will definitely be back!.

Fantastic little cottage
Excellent service, location not the easiest to find, as town hall has been demolished and the next door's cottage name is overgrown so not easy to spot. The cottage itself it just perfect for our stay, lovely garden to sit and enjoy the evening. Would recommend and would stay again.

I wasn’t happy about being watched the whole time by the neighbours.They gave us orders re the gates & parking as soon as we arrived. The cooker is very old. The bed is ghastly & the springs twang in the middle of the night. However the location and the wildlife was amazing.

Hi there, Very sorry you felt that way, we do state about the shared driveway, sadly you parked on it and not within the parking area our neighbours said. The cooker is in full working order and passed every year by electrician so, whilst it maybe an older cooker, it works well to cook food so I am not sure why this is an issue. We did have to clean a considerable amount of grease from the cooker so I can only assume it worked fine for you. I am sorry that you were not comfortable, only one other person has ever complained about the bed and the mattress is fairly new but accept everyone has differing tastes in mattresses. Glad you liked the location and wildlife-I would concur on these points.

Rainbow cottage is a little gem. Everything we could possibly need, and lovely views of the Tweed. Pheasant and partridge along with lots of small birds came to visit daily. A perfect place to stay.

We do state that there are no towels in the cottage but recently a couple people have requested these as extra-we may review the no towels with the feedback given. Everything was good. The only niggle I have is at first towels were supplied but half an hour before we arrived we had an email about the key safe and it stated towels were not supplied so we had to buy some. The reason being is I did not reply to an earlier email about the keys. Hey ho it’s not the end of the world

Peaceful & relaxed
Quiet, rural location.Well eqipped cottage. Lovely views from lounge window and rear terrace Bird feeders a bonus in bringing the bird life close. Walks straight from the door. Great location to visit tons and atractions nearby. Also getting onto some great road tours on the motorbike. The little conservatory is light and sunny to sit in, and to hang and store all the outdoor gear.

Lovely Little Holiday Cottage
We were very happy with our stay. The cottage is in a small estate within the hamlet of Wark. It overlooks the Tweed, with the dining table placed next to the window with the best view. There is lots of wildlife here. We saw Bluetits visiting the bird feeders, a little robin was a regular visitor, and we saw a woodpecker on a couple of occasions, too. The people next door are looking after an injured pheasant. We could see swans on the Tweed, and sometimes ducks or even herons would fly past. One evening, we went for a meal out and when we came back, it had just turned dark, and we saw a hedgehog at the end of the drive! At night, you could hear the owls, and we saw a barn owl one night. There is a little sitting area on the back patio, overlooking the River Tweed. The fold out beds are easy to operate. The kitchen is well stocked with implements, pans, crockery, glasses, washing machine, full oven, a microwave and a toaster. There is an clean outhouse more than big enough to store bikes in (although we didn't bring ours). The cottage is just big enough for a couple on holiday. It is very well situated for visiting Berwick-upon-Tweed, Coldstream, Cornhill and the historic sites of Norham Castle and the Battle of Flodden Field were close by. We loved it and would recommend it to anyone considering a break in Northumberland or the Scottish Borders.

The cottage is compact and well appointed. The beauty of the area and the abundance of wildlife is breath taking. The cottage is built over a castle wall and the whole history of the area is so palpable.

Hidden gem
This is the second time we have stayed in Rainbow Cottage. It was actually better than remembered. So peaceful. Fabulous for birdwatching. The cottage itself is ideal for two. Has everything we needed and was warm and cosy at night. We had no problems with parking and the neighbours are lovely. Once again we've received a beautiful card from them painted by Syd himself.

Rainbow cottage is a lovely little home from home, sitting above the river tweed. Fabulous views of the river, lots of birds visit the feeding stations, the woodpecker was a real treat. The cottage is perfectly placed for visiting the Northumbrian coast and the Scottish Borders. The parking is fine, drive in, reverse out, no problems. Communication with Julie was perfect. If you’re looking for a break away from hustle and bustle this is the place.

Good night's sleep!!!!
Property very well equipped and comfortable. The pull down bed was a little concern for us as I am disabled but no need to worry as it was one of the most comfortable beds I've every slept on while away from home. Overall our holiday was perfect, weather was good and the property w's ideal for relaxing. Thank you Julie for offering a wonderful property for all your guests. Keep it up.

A small but well equipped and comfortable property.
The cottage is small but cosy. Very clean with everything you need. It's in a convenient location for exploring the area. All in all excellent but one or two downsides. For such a small property, three CCTV cameras felt a bit off putting. Also, as it's a shared driveway/gate, the odd couple next door didn't make us feel the most welcome at times.

Thanks for your review we are really pleased you enjoyed it. The CCTV is really only used when no-one is in for long periods for security and we do mention a shared driveway. The cottage being situated right on the river bank means this is the only route in-but the views make up for it :_) Thanks for staying with us and we hope you stay again some day.

Lovely little cottage in a delightful location. We booked this cottage at very short notice, literally 2 hours, and the owners, Julie and her dad, Martin, could not have been more helpful. The cottage was very clean, everything that you needed was there, and Julie was extremely helpful for the whole duration of our nine day stay; charming lady. Cosy cottage with good views and convenient location
We enjoyed our stay so much at Rainbow Cottage that we wanted to stay longer! We found the accommodation quite spacious even with large quantities of luggage as the conservatory was larger than expected. Excellent central heating and hot water which was useful as it poured all day after our arrival. We very much enjoyed the antics of the birds (including the rather shy woodpecker) on the peanuts (provided). Very convenient for visiting Holy Island and the Cheviot (the sun shone!) and also for travelling to North Berwick and west to Dryburgh and Melrose Abbeys. The autumn colours in the Scottish Borders were stunning. Julie was very helpful and we will go back if we visit that area again.

A small but compact cosy cottage, bed needs to be pulled down from wall at night & put away in the morning. Lovely views and plenty of wildlife & birds visiting the cottage, a small fenced garden for my 2 dogs. Central for the border towns and attractions. A very enjoyable week spent here, we will be back

Leuk lief huisje, maar niet echt hond vriendelijk.
Het huisje is prima en voorzien in alles. De sofa in de serre is niet optimaal, maar voor een paar nachten goed te doen. Als je een hond meeneemt dan is het lastig. De buurman heeft een vogelopvang en kwam direct aangeven dat de hond nergens in de tuin los mag. En vergeet het algemene hek niet. Anders komt de beste man het direct vertellen. Dus zonder hond, een prima huisje.

We had a lovely stay. The cottage was cozy and just the right size for two. The terrace in the back had loads of birds stop by on a daily basis, and the view was to die for! We found the residents of Coldstream (the nearest town) to be very friendly. All in all we had a wonderful time!

detatched, quiet peaceful cottage ideally placed to explore northumberland and borders via car
amazed at how many birds we saw during our stay..the cottage is set in a quiet rural area..its not on a bus route so defo need your own transport to get around and lots of private land so not allowed to walk or take dog for walks, was hoping to get down to the river but sadly no access to it on cottage side of the river saying that, theres a couple of byways to walk along and the old railway that have no animals so safe to let pooches off lead.. friendly people in the village itself ranging from los angeles, france, essex, newcastle and scotland theres a post box but no shops pubs etc but coldstream and kelso are fairly close for groceries and a bit of day/ nightlife the cottage itself was lovely, clean, airy, well equiped and cosy..we stayed during feb so not the weather to sit outside but can imagine ot would be beautiful then...and watching the birds feeding thru the window was fantastic

Lovely location.
Extremely well appointed cottage. Stunning view of River Tweed from the rear terrace. No problem at all parking our Mazda3, but a very much larger car could be difficult. But if necessary the village parking area is just a short distance away - the village is so quiet it looks a very safe place to park. A very quiet, peaceful location, but with so many places to visit.

A little pot of gold
We feel we found a little pot of gold when staying at Rainbow Cottage, everything far exceeded our expectations, we loved the peace and tranquillity. The entertainment was endless watching all the birds from the window, I filmed more than 10 minutes of 2 Greater Spotted Woodpeckers feeding on the peanut bird feeders....who needs tv? We have a Mondeo Estate and managed to park in the parking space, the neighbours were lovely so all I can advise is that visitors give them the consideration that they deserve. Looking forward to a 2nd visit sometime in the future, thank you for a wonderful 3 nights.

Everything we needed in cottage. View is fantastic overlooks the River Tweed to Scotland!! Can watch the Birds on the bird feeders right outside window. Baby (bigger than dad) and dad Woodpeckers feed regularly also many many other birds!!! Bird books on shelf to identify them Husband calls me Bill now!! Can highly recommend Beadnell bay beach. Intimate, cosy, well- appointed spotlessly clean cottage.
Warm welcome and everything you would need for a stay away. The cottage lacked nothing in amenities, was warm and very comfortable. Bird-watching whilst eating breakfast was a delight as was the view down across the Tweed valley. Be aware that your car needs to be a small one if you hope to fit it on the driveway 'permitted' by the next door neighbour - who by reputation in the cottage visitors book can be a bit funny about the issue. We had no trouble but parked down the hill (50m) in the ample public village park. A perfect getaway for us and the two dogs, whose legs are considerably shorter having walked for many miles along the wondrous coast. It's a super base for lots of other things too - we would return at the drop of a hat to carry on exploring this area of unspoiled beauty, as well as heading north across the border. Four days was not enough for us.

Just Right!
We had a lovely time here, it's location is perfect! It was just the two of us and our little dog so the cottage was just the right size along with being spotlessly clean. Julie and her parents are the nicest people and it was a pleasure dealing with them and hope to visit again someday!

Little Gem of a Cottage
Excellent all round rental. Highly recommended. Every thing you can need is there except Internet but I managed without a week as it was so relaxed! Ultimate get away from it all retreat. Wonderful views of the River Tweed and loads of birds on the feeders in the back garden. The pull down bed is far too comfortable!! We hope to return. Thank you.
