It is named after Dr Edward Orton, Sr. who served as Ohio State's first president, OSU Professor of Geology from 1873 to 1899, and Ohio's State Geologist from 1882 until his death in 1899. Orton Hall is built of 40 different Ohio building stones. In the outside walls, these stones are laid in stratigraphic order according to their relative positions in Ohio's bedrock. It was clean, decently appointed, and very comfortable.It is not in the greatest part of the short north, and there was some homeless around the grocery store across from the house, but security was good and we never felt unsafe. It was easily walkable to the restaurant and bar scene in the short north too.Very convenient location between the campus and the short north made our commutes brief.The garage was a huge bonus and was fantastic for not having to find or risk street parking.Overall, an excellent stay. ##### Terry E.
