Really modest hotel, my teenage daughter described it as being cosy. The hotel was very clean, the double room was very large. Closet space was adequate. Tea and biscuits were provided in the room. Breakfast was freshly cooked full English, had choices of cereal and different teas. Was most pleased as my fav peppermint was on offer...never is at other hotels. It was in a very quiet area but with restaurant/takeout within a 1 minute walk, there is a Chinese opposite, Indian restaurant adjacent and fish and chips all within a small boulevard. Few parking was available at the rear. Has 2 floors with no lift. Has bar downstairs, I stayed on a Saturday was in room 32 and contrary to reviews I read the ban was really nice. I stayed on the second floor and my window was open I could hear the band just. I'm unsure what time they played until but at 12 midnight I realised I couldn't hear them anymore. I really also loved the community feel in the pub on the Sunday, everyone seem to know each other. I really enjoyed my stay, the staff as well were very friendly and helpful. It was a budget double. However the bathroom wasn't bad and I enjoyed nice hot baths. The staff were pleasant, and the breakfast was good. The bar was dingey and I didn't like having to go in there if the reception wasn't manned. Parking was a lottery, but I was mostly lucky. Not wrote the stay off as we did really enjoy our stay. But sadly didn't know about the live bands on Saturday nights. Even though we was top floor it was impossible too go to sleep prior too it finishing. If I knew prior me being a light sleeper would of brought ear plugs and room was quite chilly was the other niggle.
