Nestled in a tranquil setting at the base of majestic book cliff mountains, named after Kenilworth Castle by British miners, Kenilworth is considered an "occupied ghost town", still sporting a population of about 180 people. In its coal mining heydays in 1947, Kenilworth reached its peak population of 1,050\. This 2-bedroom, 1-bathroom home features an open floor plan that maximizes space and comfort, offering all the modern amenities you need to relax and enjoy a delightful stay. The Space: Historic Charm: Built in 1920, our cabin retains its original stone foundation and rustic character, giving you a true taste of the area's mining history. Guests have full access to the entire home and outdoor areas. We provide a self-check-in process for your convenience. PARKING: Parking is available in the paved driveway or in front of the property. There is enough space if you are hauling a trailer with your outdoor toys! \*To conserve water, we allow a wild high desert landscape. PLEASE NOTE: We have friendly neighbors who enjoy collecting various items. While their properties may have an assortment of vehicles and belongings, they are kind and welcoming. We appreciate your understanding and focus on the comfort and charm of your stay! USE EXTREME CAUTION WHEN ACCESSING THE FIREPIT! There is a slight hill and the rock steps can be wobbly. Other Details: FRAGRANCE SENSITIVITIES: We strive to keep our home fresh and inviting using natural cleaners like Mrs. Meyer's and vinegar as well as fragrance- and dye-free laundry detergent for those with sensitivities. However, we also use plug-in air fresheners and provide bathroom spray and dryer sheets for guests who enjoy scents. If you prefer a scent-free environment, please request plug-in removal before your stay, and we’ll ensure your space is prepared accordingly during cleaning! SECURITY CAMERAS: Please note, we do have exterior security cameras for the safety of our guests and because care for our property deeply. House Rules: 1- NO SMOKING OR VAPING inside the home or within 10 feet of entrance. There is a $200 fine if this rule is broken. This area has a high fire danger. 2- ABSOLUTELY NO PARTIES OR UNREGISTERED GUESTS. Quiet time is from 10 pm-8 am. Be aware that we have outside security cameras for the safety and protection of our property and to monitor guest count. 3- WELL BEHAVED dogs are accepted with a nightly fee of $25\. Dogs may not be left unattended and must be leashed whenever outside. The yard is NOT fully fenced in. Dogs are not allowed on any furniture or bedding. We provide a pet bed, but your pet may be more comfortable with a blanket from home as well. There is a $50 poop scooping fee if poop fairy has to clean up any messes left behind. Please clean up after your fur babies. 4- There is a $25 per hour LATE CHECKOUT/EARLY ARRIVAL FEE. Please message us if you need to make arrangements so we can be properly prepared. 5- LOCALS MUST MESSAGE US BEFORE BOOKING! We need to get a little more information about your reason for staying with us. 6- LONGER STAYS require more frequent cleanings. Cleanings will be scheduled every two weeks and billed at the time of booking. 7- PLEASE LEAVE FURNITURE AND DECORATIONS as they are! Moving items can cause damages and takes our cleaning team longer to prepare for the next guests. Even though the home is in a small town, we felt like we were still close enough to things we needed. The home was clean, decorated in a cute - boho/desert vibe, kitchen had spices and everything you’d need. We really appreciated the laundry area and provided iron. The porch/side deck was great for sitting and relaxing in the hammock. The host was accommodating of a slight schedule change and was very responsive in communications. The area and the rides in the area were amazing we traveled to SLC and to Moab, both were easy to do from this location. So quite and amazing star gazing. It has a lot of thoughtful furnishings and everything I needed to feel like I was home. Easy check in/out, there is helpful info at the house, and had good communication with the manager. The neighborhood is quiet and there are some dirt roads nearby that are nice for a walk/hike. One of the neighbors sells Greek yogurt and granola that I’d recommend. I slept well at the house and the bed was comfy. Quiet, peaceful and serene and situated at the bottom of a tall mesa. Conveniently located. The owner did a superb job of having plenty incidentals on hand like coffee filters and other items.
