Take a trip down memory land when you come stay at School Street House, a genuine one-of-a-kind holiday experience that you just can’t find anywhere else. Happily situated downtown Charlottetown provides for handy day trips to all parts of Canada’s loveliest little province of Prince Edward Island. School Street House feels just like your favourite Aunt’s place! Night at the Museum: School Street House is not only a guest house, it is a living museum filled with stories, historic photographs and artifacts. Some vintage treasures include a 1936 model Hammond BC organ with a Leslie 125 speaker, an 1880’s Thomas pump organ and a 1940’s record player. The furnishings and floorings date between 1900-1960 and antique china displays adorn period cabinets. School Street House is an old-time dwelling steeped in history and preserved since the turn of the last century. Like a Message in a Bottle: Children's signatures discovered on an old plaster wall behind a hundred years of paint and wallpaper revealed that School Street House was the 1904 birthplace and childhood home of world renowned marine botanist, Dr. Constance Ida MacFarlane. Jul 5, 2025 Liked: Cleanliness, check-in, communication, location, listing accuracy #### Unique antique experience School street house was an interesting home to stay at. Nearly every item is old and seems to have a story or evoke a memory, from the pump organ to the kitchen, to the wallpaper to the board games. We stayed for 3 nights, and enjoyed the easy access to the tourist area of Charlottetown, great shopping, pool and activities for the kids nearby. The neighbourhood is very walkable, and across the street there are 2 playgrounds.Host was very organized, kind, and knowledgeable, and the home was very clean and maintained well. ##### Rhonda B. Like stepping back in time to your aunties house in town. Simply restored with various period materials and appliances. Little slices of house and neighborhood history. Simple, down-to-earth, and clearly a labor of love. Would recommend. ##### Takayuki K. Stayed 2 nights in Jun 2022 ### 8/10 Good #### Brenda N. Oct 3, 2023 Liked: Cleanliness, check-in, communication, location, listing accuracy #### Overall experience The owner was very knowledgeable about the history of the house. The house was clean and well stocked with towels, dishes, utensils, soaps etc. Perfect size and location for 3-4 people. The only complaint we had was the mattresses were hard and could use an upgrade and a few extra pillows. ##### Brenda N. Stayed 2 nights in Sep 2023 ### 10/10 Excellent #### Dan S. Aug 5, 2024 Liked: Cleanliness, check-in, communication, location, listing accuracy #### Red house Enjoyed the house very much, met our needs very well! Tom is a very gracious host and he gave us a very good history discussion about the house and furnishings. Very easy walk to downtown and the pier. If you’re there during warm weather, you should go upstairs to the window unit and get it going full blast as soon as possible. Once we did that and used the available fans, we were comfortable. Great experience! ##### Dan S. Jan 9, 2016 #### School Street House is a True Gem Situated only a few blocks from the core of down town makes everything so neatly accessible..from the hip coffee houses, arts and cultural events etc. Big exhale and lowering of the shoulders upon stepping into School Street House. I slept in every day ...can't remember the last time that happened. Maybe it was the relaxing soaker tub that I couldn't get enough of or the comfortable bed and linens. School Street House is stocked with everything you need and then some. Very clean and well maintained! The native birds in the back yard were a bonus too! I am already planning a summer stay this year. Can't wait to go back. ##### Leslie E. This review was submitted before 2018 and has not been verified. ### 10/10 Excellent #### Darlene M. A comfortable getaway with all the amenities one needs. I loved soaking in the deep clawfoot tub. The owners were close by in case we needed anything but we hardly saw them. My stay at School Street House was too short, but so sweet. As a first time visitor to PEI, I can hardly imagine a more idyllic retreat that mirrors the warmth and charm of the island. My next visit to PEI will be longer, and I look forward to sharing this little gem of a place with my husband. ##### Lynda W. Everything from the crisp, clean space to the well preserved and tasteful furnishings and classic instruments are there to be enjoyed. We loved the clean and beautiful accommodations, as well as the friendly people. Vacationing in PEI had a new twist for us being based in Charolette Town. We got to enjoy all the urban attractions and were still close enough to hit the beach at Cavendish and tour Green Gables (for the 3rd time :)) My entire family would recommend School Street House to anyone planning to visit PEI. It is a historic building that comes with a guided tour by Diane. its historic yet has all the comforts of home, including wifi, this would be a great home base when touring PEI. would love to return. ##### Brian F. ## Expedia's Latest Trends ### Hotels > [The Gables of PEI](https://www.expedia.ca/Stanley-Bridge-Hotels-The-Gables-Of-PEI.h9593330.Hotel-Information) > > [John B's Oceanfront Cottages](https://www.expedia.ca/York-Hotels-John-Bs-Oceanfront-Cottages.h32067040.Hotel-Information) > > [Mill River Resort](https://www.expedia.ca/OLeary-Hotels-Mill-River-Resort.h28635.Hotel-Information) > > [Rodd Brudenell River](https://www.expedia.ca/Cardigan-Hotels-Rodd-Brudenell-River.h28634.Hotel-Information) > > [Hidden Acres Cottages](https://www.expedia.ca/Cavendish-Hotels-Hidden-Acres-Cottages.h12317537.Hotel-Information) > > [Cavendish Lodge & Cottages](https://www.expedia.ca/Cavendish-Hotels-Cavendish-Lodge-Cottages.h12471167.Hotel-Information) > > [Quality Inn & Suites Garden of the Gulf](https://www.expedia.ca/Summerside-Hotels-Quality-Inn-Suites-Garden-Of-The-Gulf.h16209.Hotel-Information) > > [Beachfront Cottage Located In Amazing Thunder Cove](https://www.expedia.ca/Darnley-Hotels-Newly-Built-Beachfront-Cottage-Located-In-Amazing-Thunder-Cove.h34761823.Hotel-Information) > > [Avonlea Cottages](https://www.expedia.ca/Cavendish-Hotels-Avonlea-Cottages.h16322211.Hotel-Information) > > [Silverwood Motel](https://www.expedia.ca/Cavendish-Hotels-Silverwood-Motel.h16222739.Hotel-Information) > > [Loyalist Country Inn & Conference Centre](https://www.expedia.ca/Summerside-Hotels-Loyalist-Country-Inn-Conference-Centre.h126093.Hotel-Information) > > [Cairns Motel](https://www.expedia.ca/Summerside-Hotels-Cairns-Motel.h27004109.Hotel-Information) > > [Microtel Inn & Suites by Wyndham Summerside](https://www.expedia.ca/Summerside-Hotels-Microtel-Inn-And-Suites-By-Wyndham-Summerside.h73081186.Hotel-Information) > > [Briarwood Coastal Cottages & Lodge](https://www.expedia.ca/Alberton-Hotels-Briarwood-Coastal-Cottages-Lodge.h9139396.Hotel-Information) > > [North Rustico Harbour Inn](https://www.expedia.ca/North-Rustico-Hotels-North-Rustico-Harbour-Inn.h16015699.Hotel-Information) > > [Rodd Crowbush Golf & Beach Resort](https://www.expedia.ca/Morell-Hotels-Rodd-Crowbush-Golf-Beach-Resort.h790789.Hotel-Information) > > [Dreamweavers Cottages and Vacation Homes](https://www.expedia.ca/North-Rustico-Hotels-Dreamweavers-Cottages-And-Vacation-Homes.h11503860.Hotel-Information) > > [Island Life Cottage](https://www.expedia.ca/Brackley-Beach-Hotels-Island-Life-Cottage.h23397013.Hotel-Information) > > [North Rustico Motel and Cottages](https://www.expedia.ca/North-Rustico-Hotels-North-Rustico-Motel-And-Cottages.h11602895.Hotel-Information) > > [PEI Cottage Rentals](https://www.expedia.ca/Borden-Carleton-Hotels-PEI-Cottage-Rentals.h11896717.Hotel-Information) > > [Traveller's Inn](https://www.expedia.ca/Summerside-Hotels-Travellers-Inn.h6278866.Hotel-Information) > > [Singing Sands Inn Motel](https://www.expedia.ca/Souris-Hotels-Singing-Sands-Inn-Motel.h14859574.Hotel-Information) > > [Inn at the Pier](https://www.expedia.ca/Bayview-Hotels-Inn-At-The-Pier.h12068435.Hotel-Information) > > [Dalvay by the Sea Hotel](https://www.expedia.ca/York-Hotels-Dalvay-By-The-Sea-Hotel.h7688327.Hotel-Information) > > [Blue Crest Cottages](https://www.expedia.ca/Rusticoville-Hotels-Blue-Crest-Cottages.h11962738.Hotel-Information) > > [Brackley Beach Northwinds Inn and Suites](https://www.expedia.ca/Brackley-Beach-Hotels-Brackley-Beach-Northwinds-Inn-And-Suites.h9352751.Hotel-Information) > > [Fair Isle Motel](https://www.expedia.ca/Brackley-Hotels-Fair-Isle-Motel.h25007657.Hotel-Information) > > [Swept Away Cottages](https://www.expedia.ca/Cavendish-Hotels-Swept-Away-Cottages.h10984264.Hotel-Information) > > [Days Inn & Suites by Wyndham Summerside](https://www.expedia.ca/Summerside-Hotels-Causeway-Bay-Hotel-And-Convention-Centre.h460539.Hotel-Information)
