The gated community of Mariner's Cay is scenically positioned on the northern banks of the Folly River. Downtown Folly Beach - where you'll find access points to the beautiful ocean beach, the famous Folly Beach Pier, and an assortment of dining, shopping, and entertainment - is three-quarters of a mile south. And downtown Charleston, known for its storied Civil War history and renowned restaurants, is only 11 miles north.

Comfortable and Accommodating

The property is clean and comfortable. The back porch of the property is facing the mariner which was perfect for a glass of wine in the evenings to watch the boats and the sunset. The place is well equipped with all the necessities and the owners also threw in a few extras like scented candles and laundry detergent pods. The location is good. We were close to stores and restaurants. The towels and was clothes were a little rough so I would recommend a higher quality for better softness. We had a great stay and would definitely use for future stays.

Very nice!! Clean, modern and well-maintained. Odor-free. Great location, close to everything! 2 minutes to beach, restaurants and shopping, 20 minutes to downtown Charleston. Would be even better during summer and we will recommend to friends.

Folly Beach Vacation

We had a great time at our beautiful condo. We were close enough to Charleston but even nicer was our location to Folly Beach. If we had any questions or needed any assistance, we would just text the owner and within five minutes we had our answer. The condo was clean and was fully stocked with any cooking utensils we needed. The only complaint we had, and it wasn’t that big of a deal, was that the toilet in the master bathroom didn’t set right and tended to rock around when you sat on it. Other than that, a good time was had by all.

Great location for beach, city, reading & games

Nicely furnished with comfortable in- and outdoor seating. Traditional coffee pot - filters were in the cabinet. No beach towels or chairs for use but nice regular bath towels. Only downside is the family upstairs with children who run like elephants at random times. Would stay again.

Very enjoyable stay. Property is well maintained. Beautiful view of the water and the dock area. Mariners Cay is a awesome place to stay and very close to walking to nightlife, restaurants and the beach and pier. This wasn’t our first stay and it won’t be our last.

The place was amazing. Loved it!

Everything was great except for the check-in process. I didnt get the email stating that I needed to go to another location. The phone number to call in had an over 2 hour hold time. After finally finding a local number, it was quite easy to get the gate code and info needed to get checked in. The location was amazing. A short walk over a bridge to Folly and being on the water was great. We watched dolphins in the water each morning and evening. Will stay here again.

Fantastic experience

We could not have asked for a better experience! The condo was very clean, and the decor is beautiful. LOVED the screened in porch! It’s a very tranquil setting and exactly what we were looking for. I hope to come back some day.

Beautiful property. However lack of adequate glassware, coffee cups and silverware necessitated running the dishwasher after every meal. Also need basic cleaning materials and vacuum cleaner.

Not cleaned and no apology for it

Arrived to a condo that had not been cleaned. After waiting for the rental company to answer the phone for 20 minutes (during business hours, mind you) and being transferred 3 times, I finally got ahold of Avocet rental company. We had to carry all of our stuff and pack the car up again for someone to come clean it. We received no apology and there was no offer of reimbursement of any kind until I asked. I was told I would be reimbursed the cleaning fee. Still haven't received it and I am not looking forward to reaching out to them once more. The condo and community itself was nice. A bit warm. The thermostat will not go below 72 which sounds reasonable but it felt muggy. There was no way to turn on the ceiling fan in the dining area. No ceiling fan in the master bedroom.

Stay at Folly Beach was nice Condo had issues

First when I initially rented the Condo I thought the it was from private owner but later found it was owned by Wyndam Resorts and Managed by Avocet. The condo is older and not well maintained. The condo was dirty when we arrive and we found both live and dead bugs in the condo. The condo smelled like mold and mildew we believe the culprit was the dirty carpeting. Additionally the furniture is old and the couch was very uncomfortable. The shower head on in the second bathroom needs to be replaced. The plumbing also had issues, when you flushed one toilet the other toilet water levels change and makes a gurgling sound. On the positive side the Avocet staff was helpful and courteous. We had an issue with digital lock not functioning and we were locked out of the Condo. The maintenance staff responded quickly and fixed the issue. The view from the back porch was excellent and relaxing. This is my third VRBO rental and the only one I have had any real issue with. I would return to Folly Beach in the future but not this property or any other owned by Wydam.

Convenience, location, peace, views - Mariners Cay is the Full Package

We had an amazing time in Folly Beach thanks to our stay in Mariners Cay. The site is top notch; you don't have to worry about insane beach parking or driving back and forth, because you can keep your car at the condo and walk across the bridge. Easy peasy. Spectacular Folly River views, too. The unit itself is everything you need; good size (2 bed, living, dining, full kitchen) - and we were spoiled by having 2 bathrooms too. Property management is very, very considerate - with some starter amenities, good housekeeping, and not at all stingy with the bath linens. But the piece de resistance that every unit has is the screened in porch. Mariners Cay made us decide that we will never, ever, for the rest of our lives, be without a screen porch again. Period. Having a dinner guest, someone to come pick you up, or pizza delivery is a minor pain, though. No gate code means you have to run out to the guard gate every time with your passcard.
