There was no AC but none was needed in the mountains, even in August. It is minutes away from the Cumbres & Toltec train station. That opportunity finally occurred a couple of days ago and I made a last minute reservation to spend one night. My years of imagining a stay were not disappointed: the office staff at check-in were friendly and helpful - even offering me a bottle of cream from the office refrigerator to use for my early morning coffee, saying “Just leave it in your mini-fridge and we’ll get it in the morning.” - and took the time to suggest a walk down to the path to the river if I had time (I took the time and it was beautiful). My room was spotlessly clean, charmingly rustic but well-appointed, and cozily warm despite freezing temperatures overnight. I hope that I’m able to stop here again for a longer stay and maybe try out one of the cabins.
