Our gorgeous family getaway is nestled on the hillside of Stone Mountain, surrounded by popular Hill Country towns like Comfort, Kerrville, Bandera, Fredericksburg and more! Hike, float a nearby river, relax with a book, soak in the hot tub, or hit a winery...the options are limitless! SPECTACULAR, BREATH-TAKING, AMAZING! These are all words used to describe the panoramic Texas Hill Country views you will see from your 2 modern Hill Country cabins on 55 private acres just outside of Center Point, Texas. We have been renting properties for years, but this property trumps them all, in terms of uniqueness and serenity. Stoney Ranch is truly spectacular! Let’s start with the views. As you enter ‘Stoney Ranch’, you will pass through your own private, automatic gate and will drive to your 2 cabins on 55 private acres. Once you arrive at the cabins, prepare for your breath to be taken away when you see the miles of panoramic Hill Country views. There are NO better views of the Texas Hill Country. They are simply amazing (the pictures here do not do them justice). The best time of the day is sunset: sip on a cocktail, watch the deer graze, and watch the most spectacular sunsets you’ve ever seen. There are 2 cabins built with a Hill Country flair, but loaded with the modern amenities you would expect from fabulous vacation rentals. First, the lower cabin. The lower cabin consists of the master suite (with king size bed, flat screen TV with Fire stick, newly renovated en-suite with spectacular tile shower, and large walk-in closet), the kitchen (with granite countertops, tile backsplash, gas range, garbage disposal, spice rack, and all standard appliances), and the living area (with sleeper sofa, multiple sitting areas, 50” flat screen TV with Fire stick, bar w/ bar stools, and fireplace). The lower cabin features a wrap-around porch with rocking chairs, multiple seating areas, hummingbird and bird feeders, and everyone’s favorite a HOT TUB! There is nothing more spectacular than soaking in a hot tub, watching wildlife, and enjoying the views. Now, to the upper cabin. The upper cabin consists of a living area (with bunk beds. sitting area, and flat screen TV with Fire stick), a bedroom (with 2 bunk beds and a sitting area), refrigerator, a laundry room (with washer and dryer), and a full bathroom. The upper cabin also sports a wrap-around porch and has an awesome outdoor living area as well. The lower cabin has board games, cards, chess, checkers and more! The cabins literally sit on a mountain, and you will be captivated by endless views, and options for hiking and exploring. There's a trail that leads to the top of the hill with an amazing lookout point, as well as hiking in flatter areas with lower lookout points for those less intrigued by hiking. This is a perfect destination for authors, musicians and artists, as well. We have already had requests from authors in the area who are looking for the perfect retreat for writing. If you're seeking serenity, you've found it. We enjoyed the porch every morning, and the peaceful setting was exactly what we hoped for. The caretaker, and maintenance team were very polite and responsive to messages. If you’re active, adventurous, and enjoy steep paths and stairs, this location is perfect for a nature-focused getaway.The Bad:Several amenities didn’t work as expected for the . The stove never reached cooking temperature, so our Thanksgiving dinner had to be ordered as takeout. The microwave took 3 minutes to heat a cup of water, and the grill wasn’t usable. Nearly every dish, cup, and utensil had to be washed before use due to food residue. Main cabin shower didn’t drain, maintenance came 24 hours after it was reported, it wasn’t fully repaired, leaving us standing in inches of water during showers. A burn ban was in order so we could not use the firepitThe Ugly:We left 1.5 days early and requested a one day refund thinking they would be flexible due to these ongoing issues that were a complete inconvenience, but the owner declined and responded only through the booking app. Five days after our departure—when they inspected the property—we were told the hot tub arm was broken, despite us never using the hot tub. The driveway is steep and may feel unsafe, and the property isn’t suitable for guests with mobility issues. The cabins themselves are nothing fancy, but they look out over a gorgeous little valley and are nestled on a cool piece of property that is worth exploring. The fact that it’s all fenced in allowed our children and dogs to roam freely and safely, taking the stress off of their mother and I. The time of year is ideal for sunsets, and the weather was glorious - cool at night and in the morning, getting up to high sixties at peak of day. Hot tub was great. Loved it, will recommend to friends and probably be back. Oven wasn’t working well, there was dust up high and in the blinds, bunk beds were a little concave, stairs between cabins are a bit unsteady, Internet streaming was not very good, and there’s no way to lock the access between the two rooms of the upper cabin. Minor issues. We came, we relaxed, we ate and drank, we unplugged, we are very happy. ##### Daniel H. We didn't even know that the whole property is fenced in! What a plus for bringing dogs! Had 4 adults, 2 teens, and 6 kids aged 4-9\. Pros: Tons of beds. So many beds. Fence! Hot tub worked great in 50° weather. Host was able to approve a late checkout since there were no guests arriving same day. Christmas decorations were up! Cons: There wasn't Wi-Fi in the upper cabin although it looked like there was supposed to be, which meant the supplied FireStick didn't work on the TV. But to be fair, we didn't message the hosts about it to try to get it fixed. We'd definitely come back here. Property is in a fun spot and feels very safe but still a little removed from the city, right in the sweet spot. ##### Brad A.
