Seemingly pulled from the pages of a fairy tale, this woodland cottage provides peace, quiet, and a stunning atmosphere among the redwoods of Cazadero. Enjoy a beautiful deck shaded by mature trees, where you can breathe in the fragrant forest air and soak in the hot tub overlooking the woods each evening. This two-story cabin is the perfect place to disconnect, tucked into the forest about four miles south of small-town Cazadero. Yet you'll also be in a wonderful position to explore, with the Russian River easily accessible in both Monte Rio (seven miles) and Guerneville (11 miles). Go wine tasting, hike the Pomo Canyon Trail (11 miles), and take scenic drives out to Jenner on the rugged ocean coast (10 miles). Stepping into this home is like stepping back in time, thanks to the classic furnishings, cozy fireplace, and richly hued wood at every turn. Natural light streams in through large windows and a lofty skylight, creating a wonderful spot to read, play board games, and watch movies on DVD and streaming services. Enjoy a charming kitchen with every essential, a dining space lined with windows, and doors that lead outside to the deck among the trees. Take afternoon naps in the hammock, prepare alfresco dinners on the gas grill, and linger outdoors to listen to the sounds of the forest. In the evenings, you'll find the bedroom upstairs, offering its own TV beneath the rafters. Complimentary WiFi is provided as well. THINGS TO KNOW The washer/dryer is not for guest use. If you are bringing a dog on your trip, the pet fee is already included in your quote when selecting ‘Yes’ to pets. No more dogs are allowed. It’s also off a steep-grade type of road, with tight turns, so getting there after dark isn’t very easy to navigate. •The driveway in & out needs to be filled in & re-leveled, as it’s a bit of an off-road experience to get in & out each time. •Outdoor lighting around the property is extremely limited, so arriving after dark is not recommended. •Entire property is on a steep hill, so walking back & forth to the car can be tough; if you’re not able-bodied, or if you have a lot of things to bring in, doing it in daylight is best. •The locking system on the cabin door is very low quality - seemed safety wasn’t an issue here? •The bathroom floor has dry-rot building up between the toilet & bathtub, causing buckling in the floor that is not only visible, but you can feel it under your feet. •Hot water heater isn’t large enough to fill tub.•The kitchen has no high-heat cooking supplies - if you bring things to cook, make sure you bring your own spatulas. •The hot tub isn’t private - you can be seen from the road if you choose to use it during the day. Rustic but comfortable, and had everything I needed for a home base while exploring the forest. Waking up in the loft bed to the sunlight coming through the trees was beautiful. A couple of things that are good to know: the bathroom doors are louvered, so if you are not already on comfortable bathroom habit status with your person, this might change that! As other reviews have noted, the bed is fairly hard. Two nights would be my maximum. And if you are at all pillow picky and are wondering if you should bring your own, you should. The place is as quiet and quaint as you could ask. Overwhelmingly warm and full of charm. The place has peace and a personality that is all its own. We had many adventures in the area, but we always looked forward to settling down in the hot tub, relaxing by the stove, and having a peaceful night's sleep. This is a one-in-a-million location. We enjoyed the eclectic art and decorations from different eras and places. The gorgeous, well crafted redwood interior was a delight. The many windows let in the lovely forest view. The lounge chairs by the hot tub allowed us to gaze up at the tall redwoods and contemplate. The silence was broken only by chirping birds or occasional distant dog bark. Truly relaxing.
