![Village sign, Catfield. "This sign was unveiled by John Francis from Anglia Television on 14 September 1998". As well as 197397, a tractor and a trading wherry (see TG2508), the sign depicts a cat and, at the top, the local rare species, a swallowtail butterfly. The wherry is significant because the village has two staithes, one on the Ant in TG3620 and one on the Thurne TG3921 - just over 2 miles as the crow flies, not much more by road, but a tortuous 14 miles or more by river. « We have just returned from a two-night stay, with two mothers and our 11-year-old sons in a 2-bedroom property. The two-bedroom house we were staying in was very comfortable, completely modernised and in excellent condition, well-heated (a huge bonus since it was snowing on this specific weekend), with wonderful beds and everything you could really want. The two bathrooms were beautiful, and the showers were fantastic. The service was terrific, and parking was easy, though be prepared to walk...

![Village sign, Catfield. "This sign was unveiled by John Francis from Anglia Television on 14 September 1998". As well as 197397, a tractor and a trading wherry (see TG2508), the sign depicts a cat and, at the top, the local rare species, a swallowtail butterfly. The wherry is significant because the village has two staithes, one on the Ant in TG3620 and one on the Thurne TG3921 - just over 2 miles as the crow flies, not much more by road, but a tortuous 14 miles or more by river. "The team at reception and at the restaurant (dinner, breakfast) were professionals and very kind. There is a big issue with housekeeping : we stayed with a baby during 5 nights and we had to show we were upset: then they cleand our room ! In fact they never used the vacuum (but we asked for because the room was very dusty ) snd they made the befs only once in 5 nights !!!! 200 euro per night : the cleaning doesn’t deserve this money !!!!"
