Mar 15, 2017 #### Exceptional property and exceptional hosts We had an excellent 10 days holiday at the house and the owners Steve and Michele were so friendly and helpful that leaving at the end of the stay was sad. The property is really well decorated and comfortably furnished throughout and the views are something special. Catelnau Montratier is a short drive away and is a beautiful small town with all the amenities required for a stay. The surrounding countryside is exceptional with many small villages and places to visit. It's very clean and cozy with lots of light, a very comfortable bed and a good sized bathroom, including a nice, deep bathtub. While no views are to be had in the gite itself there is a pleasant gravel terrace with a table setup for one to have meals out while admiring the fantastic views over the country side. Castlenau-Montratier is in an excellent location for exploring the heart of Query Blanc with Lauzerte and Montcuq nearby and Cahors, Moissac and Montauban in a half-hours drive. The market in Cahors is a definite must visit. We enjoyed many good walks on the GR 65, which runs through the region, and various petite randonées around the villages and relaxed by or in the pool in the afternoons. Michele and Steve and wonderful and friendly hosts who leave you to get on with your holiday but are always available when you have any questions or to just chat. And if you want a massage to help relax you even further then Michele is the one to see. Like us you may not want to leave. ##### Darren P. Five stars are not enough! The hosts Michele and Steve are lovely and have created a little bit of paradise in the French countryside. The beautiful old stone barn has been renovated to such a high standard by Steve and tastefully and beautifully furnished by Michele. Very large and comfortable bed. The views are wonderful and the gardens, a result of Michele's creativity and hard work are simply beautiful. We enjoyed looking at all the beautiful plants and arrangements.The olive trees were stand out gorgeous! The swimming pool has beautiful views and is kept warm by the cover which means even though we visited in May the water was warm enough to swim. The private area is large with really good quality outside furniture for relaxing and eating and a good parasol. We enjoyed trips out to local towns and particularly enjoyed a trip to the Sunday Morning market followed by lunch at Montcuq. There is information in the gite about where to visit. We spent the previous week in the Dordogne but preferred this area as it was less touristy. Only regret is that we didn't manage to fit a massage in with Michele. The house is neat, clean and equipped with everything you need, so you can have a relaxing holiday. We found the property larger than it looks in the photos. So plenty of space! The owners Michèle & Steve give you all the privacy you want, but if you have a question, they are there for you. Michèle made a nice book with lots of information about the area, places of interest and tips with restaurants and markets to visit. This was very useful for us! The house has and nice bed (kingsize) with a good mattress. We stayed there for 10 days until 1 March 2023 but then it was too cold to use the pool. The fireplace in the house and electric heating in the sleeping area provided plenty of cosy warmth despite the still cold nights (there is good wood available). The views are fantastic and there is also plenty to hear and see for the bird lover. In addition, the wifi is very fast and using multiple devices at once is no problem at all. Streaming your beloved series/movie, own TV channels, is possible without any problems. This property has all the amenities to provide a wonderful holiday in the warm months, as well as the cold months of the year. ##### Frédérique V. Sep 13, 2016 #### Relaxing place with fantastic views A beautiful well maintained property complete with perfect hosts. Ideally placed for easy access to the motorway and main routes, yet situated in a rural location near to a local town with excellent facilities. Where to start? Steve, Michelle and family were exceptionally welcoming, which carried on throughout our stay. We immediately felt at home, and were so impressed how the property looked inside and out, yet we hadn’t even reached the heated pool with ‘to die for views’. The local town Castelneau-Montratier was extremely handy to pop into, only being a couple of miles away. Everyone was friendly and helpful, a good time to practise a bit of French! We got there in the end. It was nice to be remembered and welcomed back when revisiting the local restaurants in the area. The region has so much to offer for all ages and plenty of information is provided at the property. The local tourist office in Castelneau were very helpful and accommodating. We didn’t manage to do everything in our two weeks, we were on holiday after all. So we have the perfect excuse to return and discover new things next year. Without any doubt we can recommend this property to friends and family alike. ……. Hele fijne gite met alles wat je nodig hebt en meer. Als je voor rust en ruimte gaat is dit de plek. Un séjour (trop court !) d'une semaine dans ce magnifique gîte restauré avec beaucoup de goût par Michele et Steve. L'endroit est superbe avec sa piscine, au calme total. Gîte très bien équipé, literie confortable, meubles de jardin à disposition. Que ce soit pour se reposer ou pour visiter cette magnifique région, le gîte est idéal. Petit cadeau de bienvenue à notre arrivée. Des hôtes discrets, bienveillants, disponibles et si sympathiques. Merci à tous les deux d'avoir mis à notre disposition cet endroit magnifique. Nous découvrions pour la première fois cette région avec ses villages authentiques et leurs animations locales et, des gens très conviviaux. La piscine salée est très agréable et à température idéale. Beaucoup de jolis villages à visiter dans le coin. Michèle et Steve sont des personnes très accueillantes et chaleureuses. Die Bilder auf der Homepage entsprechen absolut der Realität; sie werden vor Ort sogar noch übertroffen! Das Ambiente, die Warmherzigkeit und Diskretion der Vermieter, das liebevoll und sehr geschmackvoll restaurierte Haus sowie der äußerst gepflegte Pool sind einfach ein Traum. Zudem eignet sich die hervorragende Lage sehr für Ausflüge mit dem Fahrrad. Das nahegelegene Castelnau Montratier ist ein lebendiger Ort mit Charme und das dortige Café Le17 war für uns auf den Touren ein häufiges Ziel.
