Stargazer Chalet in Carnelian Bay

This four bedroom home is on a corner double lot and offers beautiful forest views along with privacy and modern amenities.

This is a two level home - the main floor has two bedrooms with queen beds and a full bath. It offers large windows, a bonus family room/office with an additional TV, in addition to the gorgeous fireplace to warm up beside, you have beautiful furnishings and decorations throughout. Comfortable furniture for relaxing after a day on the mountain or trails. It also has a large back deck you can relax on which is very enjoyable with your morning coffee while breathing in the fresh air. Head upstairs for the two remaining bedrooms, one carries a queen, and the other is a large room for slumber parties with another queen, a single twin and bunk bed with twins. All together this Lake Tahoe cabin will sleep up to 10 adults.

Location:
From this North Shore location you will find great trails for mountain biking and hiking around Watson Creek and even cross-country skiing on the Tahoe Cross Country Ski Trails. In fact, you will find trails from here to Tahoe City and the town of Carnelian Bay. There are three large resorts just a short drive away, approximately 10-13 miles. These resorts offer an abundance of winter and summer activities.

Parking:
Parking is available for 4 cars total in the summer and 3 total in winter. All cars must park on the driveway. No street parking per county ordinance.
Prepare for mountain or winter weather driving in winter months. This may mean Four wheel drive with snow tires or chains. Check weather or road reports. AWD and 4WD necessary to get up the mountain roads and some driveways in the winter months.

Other things to Note:
* Renters must be 25+
* This is a non-smoking home.
* Pets are not allowed at this home.
* Maximum Occupancy per county ordinance is 10 adults.
* Use of the BBQ is not guaranteed in winter months, due to limited access.
* Like most homes/condos in Tahoe, this one does not have Air Conditioning. There will be fans available for your use.
* Your safety matters. This property may features exterior security cameras. The cameras are outward facing and do not look into interior spaces. The cameras will continuously record video and sound while guests are in residence.

Perfect place

Spent 3 days/2 nights here with my family and friends. The home was large, clean, and a great space to accommodate all of us. The home was exactly as pictured and had everything we needed for our stay. The House is in great condition, with an open communal area of the kitchen, and living & dining room for all of us to congregate in. Large driveway to accommodate all our cars.

Great cozy home

Enjoyed our stay in this cozy cabin. The property manager was very responsive and allowed us to extend our stay on short notice. No issues, and lots of space for a family. Games/toys were a nice added touch.

Absolutely loved this place. The location was perfect and a quick easy ride uber/tart/drive to Gar Woods and the beach! It is very spacious and comes with everything you may need. Would definitely stay here again.

Overall a very nice place

I’m happy with my decision to pick this property. It was clean, fully equipped with kitchen stuff and children stuff, roomy but also cozy. The only problem we have is the heating system because we were didn’t really know how to adjust it or if it is adjustable at all, but it doesn’t really bother us much. Will come back next year!

Cozy and comfortable house. Lots of room. Large useful kitchen with ample plates and cook wear.

We had a great stay in this comfortable home. It is in a super location, easy to get to the ski mountain and it’s a great location to go out for dinner in town at night. We had a wonderful time and will definitely be back again. Thank you for being a pet friendly location

Not happy.

We stayed here for 2 weeks. We were not very happy with this rental. There were several problems with the property including: 1) very dirty floors and carpeting (which we had to clean ourselves) 2) windows with missing screens so they could not be opened, 3) windows that did not open because the casement arms had come off the window 4) a stopped up shower drain, 5) hazards on the porch which caused some pain to our toes (eye bolts sticking out of the porch), and 6) hazards in the house to little grandchildren (loose, long dry wall screws in various locations and an eye-level fire extinguisher hangar without a fire extinguisher. I called the local number provided to get the drains and windows looked into, but the main contact was off on Th and Fri. So we called the main Vacasa number on 3 occasions with no result (no one came to see us to correct the problems, as promised). The Vacasa people promised someone would come to visit us one day at 2 PM. At 3:45 PM no one had come and we left to do some sightseeing, but no one followed up to see if we had been helped. I was very dissatisfied. The property has seen better days, but it is currently dirty and not maintained well. We left it in better shape than when we arrived.

Not a chalet.....

It looked cute from the street when we drove up to the house but once you parked in the back of the house to get the key from the lock box, it all went downhill. Back deck was dirty with litter and unswept - probably unswept all season. It was dirty! House looked ok. Bedrooms and bathrooms looked clean but found a few hairs in the sink which is a huge pet peeve to me. Very outdated and the kitchen floors were gritty (there's a sign to take shoes off) - by the time we unpacked, our feet were black. House needs some issues services and should be cleaned out by owner. Shower drain on main floor doesn't drain well so you're standing in dirty water while showering. Kitchen cabinets are filled with a lot of junk - it's like a graveyard for all of the stuff that the owners don't want at their main house. Coffee maker was left dirty from last users - still coffee grounds in the maker! Not stocked well at all so you need to bring your own detergent, napkins/paper towels, kitchen sponge, etc. You get the picture.

Mixed Feelings

Our stay at the Hilderbrand Chalet came with very mixed feelings. First let me say that we did not acquire the rental from VRBO, instead it was VACASA. That was a mistake. The house itself was fine. The rooms were spacious and comfortable. The kitchen well appointed. As a large family we were very comfortable in the house. HERE'S THE PROBLEM-- UPON CHECKING IN AT THE REQUIRED TIME THE HOUSE WAS NOT YET CLEAN. A PHONE CALL TO VACASA ASSURED US THAT THEY WOULD SEND OVER A CREW. WE WENT BACK TO TOWN AND CAME BACK TO THE HOUSE AT 5:30. STILL NOT CLEAN- IE. BEDS NOT MADE, DIRTY LINENS ON THE FLOOR, BATHROOMS NOT CLEAN ETC. PHONE CALLS WERE NO LONGER ANSWERED. THE FAMILY DECIDED TO "ROLL UP THIER SLEEVES" AND START CLEANING. AT 7P.M. A CLEANING CREW ARRIVED AND THEY INFORMED ME THAT THEY HAD JUST RECEIVED THE PHONE CALL TO ARRIVE. I ASKED THEM TO FINISH THE CLEANING THAT WE HAD BEGUN AND THEY QUICKLY WENT THOROUGH THE HOUSE. THERE WERE NO CLEANING SUPPLIES AVAILABLE TO THE CREW IN THE HOUSE. WE HAD ALREADY GONE TO TOWN TO BUY THEM. A LONG STORY SHORT ONCE WE MADE IT THROUGH THE FIRST NIGHT OUR STAY WAS COMFORTABLE. In closing repeated, phone calls to VACASA were never returned, even after I came home. I have submitted a complaint form but have not heard from them yet. it has been two weeks. I have rented from VRBO in the past and like the fact that I had contact with the owners of the property. It appears that VACASA does not have that policy, unless of course they are the owners of the property. In the future I will never rent from VACASA again and will urge others to do the same. Outrageous customer service.
