This home sleeps 6 to 8 guests. This home is a 2,650 sf classic Mid-Century Modern with a Carmel, California twist. With 3 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms and 2 living room/media areas, it’s a good base for your coastal adventure. Living Spaces A drought-resistant, beautifully-landscaped front yard and stone patio, welcome you to the property. A Dutch door leads to a roomy foyer with high ceilings that features an open wood staircase leading up to the primary suite, and access to a charming brick patio. Two chaise lounges, 2 chairs and a gas grill make for a relaxing outdoor experience. Wood-paneled walls adorn most rooms, while floors are brick or richly-hued wood. Off the entry, you’ll find a family room with wood flooring and two sofas, one of which opens to a queen sofa bed. The room is equipped with a sink, microwave and a 46” TV. The fireplace is decorative only. A media room off the kitchen has brick flooring accented with a colorful rug. Enjoy your favorite programming on the 42” TV, while lounging comfortably on the large sofa, or one of 2 roomy chairs. This room is also home to the washer and dryer. Kitchen and Dining The kitchen is covered in rich-wood floors and a skylight that brightens the space. A breakfast nook sits next to a window where you can enjoy the morning sun. Gourmet appliances include a 6-burner gas Zline range, Samsung refrigerator with 2 freezer drawers and an in-door water/ice dispenser, Bosch dishwasher and all the small appliances you’ll need for a great stay. The center of the kitchen is u-shaped with a stone countertop that accommodates seating for two. Both Keurig and drip coffee makers provide options for your morning brew. The formal dining room is set with a wood table and 6 chairs. Two comfy occasional chairs occupy opposite corners. Bedrooms and Bathrooms Bedroom #1: Take the stairs in the foyer to the primary suite which occupies the upper floor. The spacious suite boasts striking wood floors, a king bed in a seagrass bed frame, nightstands with lamps, a comfy chair and a 50” TV set on an Asian themed dresser. The en suite bath features stone tile flooring, a large shower, a closet and a Toto toilet. Downstairs, Bedroom #2 features a king bed, twin nightstands with lamps, a dresser, 2 chairs and an en suite bathroom. A stone tile floor graces the bathroom that includes a shower over tub, a commode and a closet where linens are tucked neatly away. Bedroom #3 features a queen bed, 2 nightstands with lamps, a cozy reading chair, a closet and wood floors. The en-suite bathroom includes a walk-in shower, a vanity with sink and stone tile flooring. The 4th full bathroom is located inside the media room and it has a standing shower. It’s a short drive or walk to town along the quiet streets. Stroll down Ocean Avenue to the sandy stretch of beach, one of the only area beaches where dogs can frolic off-leash. Explore the streets of the village where you’ll find wine tasting venues, gourmet grocery stores and delis, world-class restaurants, cafes, shops and art galleries. A short drive takes you to The Crossroads, The Barnyard and Carmel Rancho shopping centers where you’ll find even more services, restaurants and shopping. Our family of 9 including children had a great stay at the Carmel nest property by Santuary Vacation Rentals. I would have given the property more than 5 stars if it was possible. It is large house that’s been beautifully maintained with tasteful interiors. The location is amazing in a quite residential neighborhood less than 5mins drive to ocean ave. I highly recommend it. A small feedback for the property managers - the hvac system heats some rooms more than others which can make it uncomfortable in both the hot and cold room. It has multiple areas to hang-out, watch TV or play games so that the kids and adults can do individual activities whenever wanted. The house is walking distance to downtown Carmel but it is a tougher walk back from downtown due to the hilly nature of Carmel by the Sea. The home is beautiful and in a wonderful location. We were able to walk to town from the house which was nice. Unfortunately the heater was not working properly during our stay. The property management team was prompt about responding and sending someone out to look at it, but it was a more complicated fix and could not be fixed during our stay. The management team was helpful and worked with me on this issue which I appreciated. Even with the heater issue, we still enjoyed our stay here and especially loved exploring Carmel and the surrounding towns. ##### Mari D. Reviewer Comments: This property is great for groups. We had six adults and one toddler, and there was plenty of space of all of us to be comfortable. Each of the three bedrooms has its own bathroom, and there is an extra bathroom in one of the family rooms. There are two "wings" of the house located on either side of the foyer, with bedrooms and family rooms on each side. The kitchen is well equipped and pleasant. The house had two separate "wings" which made for a good amount of privacy for all of us. We loved that each bedroom (+ media room) had a bathroom. We would have preferred firmer beds. Also, the driving directions were confusing and didn't work for us (driving south on hgwy 1). We ended up using GPS and it worked out fine. You may want to consider removing those directions from the documents you send out to renters. The property managers were very responsive when I needed to communicate with them. Nicely equipped kitchen with good appliances. The welcome bottle of Pinot Noir and cheese was greatly appreciated. We enjoyed walking 15-20 min to town to enjoy the local coffee shops and the beach every morning. One evening we walked to dinner and it was very easy to get an Uber back home for $7\. (Did not want to walk up the hill with a full belly). A couple of minor challenges: the king bed in the main room has a very soft mattress/memory foam topper and we like firm beds. The heating seems to only work in one section of the house and even in the lowest heat setting it seemed to stay on constantly despite my attempts at changing the thermostat settings. We ended up keeping it off and using the small space heaters available in all the rooms. Overall we had a great time and would book this house again in the future. ##### Carlos N. There are 3 bedroom suites with updated bathrooms and the locations are all spread put so everyone has privacy. Extra full bath off the family room for overflow. Location is great but it would be a rather long walk to downtown. If it were not in the dead of winter, we would have walked but it was only a 5 minute drive! We did not use the exterior areas as we were there in the winter, but it looked nice! Kitchen was well equipped and there was plenty of napkins, laundry detergent, baggies, and other necessities. Sanctuary rentals was THE BEST! When we walked in the door there was a smoke detector chirping. I called and a maintenance person was there in 10 MINUTES!!! I would stay here again!! ##### Amelia S. Reviewer Comments: We gathered here as a family to participate in a familial wedding. We had three separate couples and a single and everyone was content with their bedrooms and ensuite. We loved the angularity of the house inside and the many common rooms. The kitchen worked well although we mostly ate out. All the appliances are there and a washer and dryer. Ironing board and iron provided as well. Never watched the TVs although there seemed like one in every room! The neighborhood is great, walkable and friendly. The location is excellent and the whole area is quiet. When not at functions we spent our time walking the beaches in Carmel and Monterey. Endless beach! The weather was spectacularly sunny and pleasant. Not the usual, I gathered. The company and people were easy to work with and the pictures are what's there and much more.
