Country living at it’s finest
Turning into the drive, blue quail were at the gate and ran just in front then to the side of our pickup. That told us we were in a good place. With the horses and donkey in the pasture beside the property, barns and stables as well, the setting was perfect. The house is really nice, very comfortable, very clean, very country. No city noise out here. That was why we chose to stay there. Becky was great, available if needed. You will not be disappointed in this one. Wish i could load a picture, the sunset was amazing. We hope to stay there again. Bill & Patty

A slice of Texas Panhandle heaven.
You are not just booking a home, but an entire experience. Becky has created a very special place in Texas’ Panhandle. We were treated to a wonderful home with no detail missed, to the property complete with horses and an infinite horizon to watch the sunsets. We were here for a family wedding and our six year old granddaughter was fascinated by the horses. Becky let her help feed the horses and donkeys, an experience and memory she will never forget. Thank you, Becky, for sharing you wonderful home and property.

Family Vacation
Becky was a stellar host! Her property is a peaceful oasis just south of the community of Canyon. The property is so well appointed! Becky has truly thought of everything. Grab a few groceries and don’t go anywhere…you’ll be delighted! But it’s also conveniently located to Canyon (with several good restaurants), Amarillo and especially the gorgeous Palo Duro Canyon. You really need to stay here, would do it again in a heart beat!! You won’t find a better place to experience something new!!

This is just not a place to stay this is a place to make memories
I have travelled a lot for work, and have stayed in many hotels and short term rentals. This place is unique, it really is an experience more than a stay. The communication and hospitality of the owner are far and above to your typical hosts. One truly feels at home at the Spicer Bunk House.

Beautiful place and area to stay.
This is a a beautiful cabin to stay in with plenty of space for a large family. My wife loved the rustic farmhouse chic décor. It was a very old fashioned place with everything you need for some satisfying time away. Including a large porch with great wide open views and of the sunset. The host is very responsive to needs and super friendly. The location is right near Palo Duro Cannon which we spent time at hiking and where they also have great musical. Horse back riding is also nearby if interested, Amarillo and Route 66. Definitely worth a stay.

Great House
This place is amazing and the pictures don't do it justice! Our family of four stayed here while we hiked Palo Duro Canyon SP. It's close to everything but not too close. We enjoyed the quiet, beautiful sunsets and evening thunderstorms. Ms Becky was great to work with and our boys loved petting the horses! We loved the style of her house!!!

10 out of 5 Stars - Spicer Bunkhouse
In need of a get-away, we found the perfect spot at the Spicer Bunkhouse in Canyon, Texas hosted by an authentic cowgirl, Becky Mayring. The spacious property is meticulously cared for - pristine landscaping and spotless interior. The western decor is lovely and the personal pictures were a glimpse of her cowgirl life! Nice amenities (more than I've ever seen in a rental). And the master bath - I think every house should be required by law to have one exactly like it!! After a long, hot day of hiking - a nice soak was exactly what I needed. Becky was an excellent hostess - from tips on on our already planned excursions to inviting us to a concert on the square (classic small town summer vibe). We were minutes from Palo Duro Canyon and a short drive to Caprock Canyon and Amarillo. Loved sitting on the porch watching her many horses, hearing the personalities of the donkeys while waiting for the most glorious sunset. We were warmly greeted by her sweet dogs - all of whom have never met a stranger. We will definitely book this rental again for the next trip to the Canyon!

Incredible!
What a great place! Becky was so welcoming and accommodating. Her home is beautifully decorated and well equipped…she thought of EVERYTHING. It was comfortable, bright and cheerful. We could not have gotten a better place to stay. We loved waking up in the mornings and seeing (and hearing) all the animals on the property. The front porch is a great place to have a cup of coffee and take it all in. In the evenings the big Texas sunset was breathtaking from that same front porch. This place is close to town but feels so far removed. We would stay here again, for sure. Thank you Becky for everything!

Perfect for Palo Duro
This property and its owner exceeded all expectations. I brought my three kids to Canyon, Texas to hike the lighthouse Trail in Palo Duro Canyon. Our two night stay just 15 minutes from the park gates was excellent. This property is immaculately, kept, and full of unique, personal, and authentic western style. All of the finishes and fixtures are top quality, and the host couldn’t be a more genuine and helpful lady. Several horses, donkeys, and friendly dogs live on the property, and the host invited my daughter, who is crazy about horses, to help her when she fed the animals. Easy to find, clean, and peaceful. You can’t do better than this place. Top quality linens, very nice accommodations, and snacks provided upon our arrival make things extra extra nice.

Best VRBO ever!
Becky was an amazing host! She accommodated our large family and went above and beyond with the gift basket and extra touches. The things we had forgotten, were there. She also make all the extras in the home useable and useful to us. We contacted her once and she responded immediately. She respected our privacy but was available. I cannot say enough about her graciousness as a hostess. Now for the house! This was the best bathtub I’ve ever used! She even provided Dr. Teals and Native brand products ❤️ The bedding was high quality and the beds were so comfortable. The kitchen was well appointed and everything you could need was there! The art was interesting and creative as well as the historical tidbits and photos throughout. The bottle cap floor in the pantry and the red fridge made me happy. She had a beautiful Christmas tree and lights around the house to give the perfect holiday vibe. As for location….we were between Canyon and Palo Duro in a very quiet area. That was perfect for our family who drifted between both places. The animals on the property made us feel right at home, especially the donkey. We loved our stay. I highly recommend this property. Out of 10 years of VRBO reservations, this one is our favorite.
