Book your scenic getaway today!\` The Moonshine River Retreat Cabin located in Rock Hill Park is minutes from Beavers Bend State Park and bordered by the Ouachita National Forest. The cabin’s name was inspired by the area’s rich history and culture of making Moonshine during the Prohibition period. The interior of the cabin is both rustic and serene, with all of the amenities you might expect from a vacation home. At 1100 square feet, the cabin features a full sized washer and dryer, two full bathrooms, and two bedrooms with queen beds. It sleeps 4 comfortably. The living area boasts a 40” flat-screen television and cable TV. The dining area is separate and looks out onto the back porch and the beautiful forest. The kitchen boasts brand new appliances, including a large gas range and oven, microwave, refrigerator with ice maker, dishwasher, coffee maker, blender, and even a crock pot for easy meals. All you need to bring is food: utensils, cookware, dinnerware are all provided. The wrap around granite countertop, lighting fixtures, and unique decor make this kitchen, and cabin, a show-stopper. The cabin is pet-friendly to crated pets. The porch is 850 square feet and includes a hot tub covered with woodsy views. Plenty of outdoor seating is offered in both the front and back areas. Parking is spacious enough for ATVs and boats. A large fire pit, horseshoe pit, and gas grill make for plenty of family activities to enjoy right outside your door. In fact, you’ll be minutes away from the Beavers Bend Resort Park (with a restaurant, museum, and horse riding trails, even a kiddie train during peak months) the Broken Bow Lake and Marina, Beavers Bend Wildlife Museum, hiking, biking, and ATV trails. For the anglers in your group you have both the lake and the gorgeous Mountain Fork trout-fishing river (stocked regularly) with areas for the novice as well as the serious fly fishermen. If you need equipment, there is a complete fly-fishing outfitter nearby. In the summer months, the river has a float area, and several kayak and canoe rentals. Whether you are looking for adventure or a relaxing and scenic getaway, the Moonshine River Retreat is sure to meet, and exceed your expectations. This cabin is pet friendly. Guests may have two (2) small dogs with a $20 per night non-refundable pet fee. All dogs must be kenneled if left alone in the cabin. Pets are not allowed on the furniture or in/on the beds otherwise additional cleaning fees may apply. During your stay you will have access to all unlocked areas of the property. Cabinets, closets, and any outbuildings which are locked are not available for guest use. The amenities provided for each cabin are for the use of that cabin only. You will also have use of the following at each Kiamichi Cabin: \- Fire pit – firewood not provided \- Free Wi-Fi \- Grill – most properties have a charcoal grill, a few still have gas grills. \- Hot Tub \- Washer and Dryer We use express check-in and checkout. Our goal is for you to have the least amount of interaction with our staff as possible. If some issue does arise, we will work to keep interruptions to a necessary minimum. Staff and management are local to the area. Directions & access code are sent out a week prior to arrival using one of the following methods: Kiamichi Cabins Website or Agent Bookings – information will be emailed one week prior to scheduled arrival. Our office is not open after 5pm or on weekends – emails are not checked regularly during this time. Located in the heart of Kiamichi country lies the incomparable splendor of Broken Bow, Oklahoma. Surrounded by the natural beauty of Beaver’s Bend State Park, the Ouachita National Forest and the Kiamichi Mountains, this is the place to lose yourself in hunting, fishing, hiking, canoeing. The place to find yourself while surrounded by tall pines, crisp rivers and clean mountain air. The place to make memories that you will draw on for a lifetime. The Beavers’ Bend / Hochatown area does not have public transportation. There is at this time a private ride share company that will pick up and drop off between most cabins and area attractions, restaurants, shopping, etc. There is currently not any Uber or Lyft options. All cabins located in the Hochatown area are 5 to 15 minutes from most destinations around the lake and park. This of course depends on traffic. Summer and other peak holidays experience higher traffic, typically Fridays after 2pm and Saturdays between 10am and 4pm. Offpeak weekends and midweek stays should expect shorter traffic times Cabins located further north of Hochatown are an additional 15 to 30 minutes from the Hochatown area. This additional distance should not be impacted by traffic. The park and lake itself are free to enter, there is however a fee to park. During peak periods you should plan on a wait at most restaurants. This Property is dog Friendly - Please see the following for restrictions/ guidelines/ fees. \* 2 dogs maximum \* weight limit of 80 lbs for a single dog or Check in time is 4PM or later. Check out time is 11AM. Additional fee of $100 will apply to late check-outs unless otherwise approved. All cabins are Non-smoking. RVs, Campers, and Tents are not allowed to be used on cabin property, overcrowding fees will apply. ATV and similar vehicles are not allowed to be ridden on the cabin property. The use of Fireworks and/ or Guns is prohibited on cabin property. Hot tub covers are to remain in place when not in use. Do not stand, sit, dance, or otherwise use the cover for anything other than its intended purpose. Pets are welcome at Kiamichi Cabins on a Cabin by Cabin Basis with the following restrictions: Maximum of two (2) dogs. If bringing a single dog, the weight limit is 80lbs. If bringing 2 dogs, the weight limit per dog is 40lbs. No dogs are to be left unattended. All dogs must be kenneled if left at cabin. Dogs are not allowed on the beds or on the furniture. An additional fee of $20 per night will apply - regardless of how small or cute your dog is. The cabin was clean and perfect as always and as this was our 5 time to stay here, we hope it will always be available! We came to Broken Bow for a wedding and stayed at Moonshine River for two nights. From all of the great reviews we were very excited to stay here. The cabin was beautiful as the pictures depicted but upon entering, it smelled musty. And no one slept well the entire time because we were all very congested. I don't know if it was something in the cabin based on the musty smell, but the air vents were filthy. Also only half of the jets in the hot tub worked and all of the towels in the bathrooms were dirty. The TV in the bedroom was extremely frustrating and apparently whoever stayed there before us also could not control the TV with the remote, because we found it unplugged and that was the only way to turn it on and off. Also the wires were all just hanging from the TV with the cable box precariously balanced on top. I'm glad I did not have my grandchildren with me or that would have been an electrical hazard. May I suggest putting a dresser under the TV? And all of the end tables, night stands, etc., needed to be dusted and wiped down. With the extra maintenance and cleaning fees we pay when booking, I expected better! I hate that I have to leave this negative review. It is the first negative review I have ever left on VRBO. I hope it is taken seriously and these issues are addressed because it really is a beautiful cabin and location. It just needs a little better cleaning and maintenance. ##### Sue R. We needed a place that was affordable, secluded and quiet and Spacious for our dogs to roam free off leash. It was a beautiful property just the right size. The amenities were great. The cabin was so beautiful, clean and comfortable. This was our first visit to the Broken Bow/Hochatown area and we really enjoyed it. We plan to come back. It is located at the end of the road and felt like our group was on a private piece of land. It was perfectly clean and offered all the amenities that we needed. It rained one day we were there, but still got to enjoy the outside and wild life because of the patio (front and one in back with the hot tub).
