Welcome to Happy Acres! This beautiful and well-maintained cabin sits on a knoll overlooking a nice stream with a pleasant waterfall. The surrounding grounds are landscaped with native plants and there are many places to sit and enjoy the surroundings. This property is surrounded by a forest of old growth deciduous trees--it will show spectacular fall color that you can enjoy from your porch. The master bedroom is on the main floor with a private bathroom. Upstairs are two comfortable bedrooms, one with a queen-size bed and one with a full-size bed, that share a full bathroom. There is additional sleeping on the trundle day bed in the loft area that opens to a queen-size bed. The wood accents and some of the furnishings and flooring were made from trees that grew on the property! The property adjoins the Headwaters State Forest. This state forest is part of a project intended to extend from Table Rock in South Carolina through Caeser's Head, Dupont and Gorges State Parks. Lots of room for exploring, biking and hiking. Enjoy wading in the stream or just relaxing in the nearby swing. No need to leave the property--plenty of wildlife and beautiful surroundings to appreciate. But when you are ready to explore the area, you will find that we are at the center of great things to do! Dupont State Forest with its magnificent waterfalls, horse, biking and hiking trails is just down the road. Brevard is only about 8 miles away with shopping, arts and crafts, and great restaurants! Go the other direction and enjoy the day in Hendersonville, or travel a bit farther to Asheville. Other parks in the vicinity include Pisgah National Forest, Gorges State Park, Caesar's Head, and Headwaters State Recreation Area--all the hiking you want with lots of scenic waterfalls and overlooks. Access the Blue Ridge Parkway and take in some spectacular scenery. Be sure to go and see the Pretty Place Chapel while you are here, or walk to the top of Sassafras Mountain, the highest peak in South Carolina; both only a short drive from the house. The home is well cared for and has all of the comforts of home. The kitchen has everything you would need to fix meals or you can eat at a variety of restaurants in Brevard about 10 miles away. There are lots of trails and waterfalls within a 15-30 minute drive. The owner is great with communication. The house is a great place to gather with family because it has an open living space. The bedrooms, however, are all quite private. The 2.5 bathrooms are clean and well placed. We turned the dining room into a game room and we really enjoyed the space. The porches offer fantastic views and a lot more space. We also enjoyed the firepit and fire wood. The house is only ten miles from Brevard, but it feels isolated. We enjoyed the location. It was close to many beautiful parks.The driveway is long and hilly. Our van handled it fine, but a low profile vehicle like a Chrysler 300 ot Tesla might struggle. Also, this property is not really setup for anyone with mobility issues. The house was plenty big enough for our group of 4 adults and 3 children. The kids loved playing in the creek below and exploring around the property! The adults loved sitting on the back porch and listening to the sound of the small waterfall. The location was excellent for visiting waterfalls and swimming holes. We came back each day and cooked dinner (the kitchen was fully stocked with pans and utensils!) and made a fire in the fire pit! We made many great memories for our family at this house.
