This historic and beautifully curated 1870 sea captain’s home is smack dab in the center of everything. Outstanding restaurants, cozy pubs, charming boutiques, and top-notch art galleries are all within walking distance. It’s the perfect spot for guests who want to get to know the town from a local’s perspective while having a wonderful place to relax after a long day of exploring. And the harbor view is to die for! Recently updated, “On the Harbor” features a blend of original finishes befitting a sea captain’s home, chic décor, and modern amenities to create an immersive, coastal, quintessentially Maine experience. This charming home sleeps eight and has three spacious bedrooms as well as a finished attic loft with two twin beds. The house has three steep staircases and is not suited for those with mobility challenges. There are three full bathrooms – two on the second floor and one in the finished basement as well as a half bath on the first floor. The spacious living room boasts harbor views from every window, a new 43” smart TV, and an adjoining open deck overlooking the harbor. A fully equipped kitchen with modern appliances provides everything you’ll need to enjoy cooking memorable meals. The formal dining room seats up to eight and a breakfast nook seats four. The second-floor primary captain’s bedroom features a luxurious king-size bed and beautiful sweeping harbor views and is complemented by a newly renovated ensuite bathroom with a walk-in shower for added convenience as well as a smart TV. Our second queen-size bedroom exudes charm with a hand-painted forest mural, while the cozy third queen-size bedroom features local B&W photography and a painted ceiling. These two bedrooms share a bathroom complete with an original clawfoot tub and shower capabilities. For families with children, a finished basement area provides ample space for entertainment and relaxation with a 55” smart TV and sectional sofa, game table, and record player. Outside, the lower deck offers a serene spot to unwind, while an updated bathroom with a walk-in shower, along with a small kitchenette area equipped for refreshments, ensure every need is met. Additionally, the washer and dryer are conveniently located in this area for added convenience during your stay at On the Harbor. IMPORTANT: To ensure peace of mind during your stay, we offer two options for damage protection: a small, one-time non-refundable Accidental Damage Waiver (our most convenient and guest-preferred option) or a fully refundable Security Deposit, returned after your stay if no damage is reported. Once your booking is confirmed, you’ll be prompted to complete this step. Courtesy quiet hours start at 10 p.m. per local ordinance. Not only was the home clean and attractive, it was centrally located within the harbor area that we could walk to just about any type of meal within 5 minutes. The balcony view of the harbor was picturesque regardless of the time of day. Even with all of the busy events that go with Windjammer Days, the house was still relaxing and quiet. It was great watching the boats every day right off your back deck. The only cons were the upstairs windows outside were broken and there was small glass pieces on the deck. The other con was they need a bigger hot water heater. You barely had enough hot water for one shower. I would definitely stay at this location again and highly recommend it.
