Friendly and very helpful host. Accommodated my dietary requirements very well. The optional breakfast is tasty and substantial, which is a big hit with me, and definitely worth paying the extra for. Nice new flooring and carpets throughout. My room was clean but could use an electric socket near the bed (I have advised host on this). Bedside lamps were battery only and ran out of power when I went out for a long evening. This might be only an issue in one room however. Runway is very handy for the centre of town and has a couple of shops within easy walking distance. Parking was OK when I went but might be harder during peak season. Wifi works in bedrooms which is definitely better than most B&Bs in the area. The central heating doesn't work in all rooms (apparently a new pump is needed), but the host did provide a plug-in electric heater which was just about sufficient. Re-decoration is ongoing but the progress seems to be slow, hopefully this will be completed soon as well. The floors have been done throughout and do look nice. The walls, woodwork and banister were still to be done. Host inherited an outdated building and has already invested substantially in the renovations, this is obvious. There is still more to be done though, which with relatively little extra cost will make a big difference. I would be happy to stay again here, and hopefully it will be even nicer once the improvements I mentioned have been done. We had a brilliant two nights. Room was clean and spotless. To be sincere and truthful, maybe a little paint touching up, a bit of wallpaper coming away from wall, but did not spoil our stay. Its not the Hilton, but service was better. Yvonne and her son are so nice and hospitable. Yvonne was so helpful and knowledgeable and very approachable. As soon as we arrived she said to us straight away anything you need just ask me and we were given a sheet of paper which was very helpful with her number on it to call her anytime. The paper had listings of places to dine out and dog friendly which was most helpful and it prevented you walking all over town looking for a place to take the dog. Our room was perfect for me and my husband and our dog. We had access to the backyard so we could let our dog out which was really nice. The bed is the most comfortable bed i have ever slept in it’s even better than my bed at home! The bathroom was great you have a shower over the bath and plenty of room to move around and a great wall unit to store toiletries on and your towels and plenty toilet rolls. If we needed a change in towels we asked for them and got them no problem. I think it’s a great idea that you can ask for them when you need them it’s very environmentally friendly and is the way of the world now be it in the UK or Europe or even America. It’s caring for the planet. Where you are situated is really good it’s a 15 minute walk from here to the beach, restaurants, take aways, winter gardens, shopping centre, cinema and even a doggy cafe for you and your dog. Plenty grocery shops nearby. The room is equipped with a fridge and microwave so you can buy a ready meal if you choose. Dale’s chip shop is good. It is centrally located and easily accessible for the main attractions like the tower and amusements and piers. Parking was tight as they wanted to fit 2 cars on their front driveway which didn’t seem big enough. Was told that there was a leak from the room into downstairs and so couldn’t use shower. No breakfast available either, which was a reason we booked this. Welcoming lady but to her own testimony, “it was one of those stays where many things were going wrong.” I would have appreciated maybe a partial refund to acknowledge things were not as expected.
