We are just steps away from the vibrant Black Mountain Downtown Historic District, famous for its shops, restaurants, breweries and music venues. This charming one bedroom, one bathroom suite is on the main level of the building. The entire town of Black Mountain is walkable, making this the perfect home base for your mountain adventure! This house is over 100 years old and presents itself as such. Black Mountain Lodge has five units, each with a separate entrance. The door for Unit 2 is on ground level located around the back of the building. The entry to this 659 sq ft space takes you to the kitchen, which is a generous size and includes a dining table. It is stocked with all the necessities you would expect for cooking and dining. The living room adjoins the kitchen, and has a large comfortable seating area to relax and enjoy some TV. There is a smart tv you can use to log into your streaming subscriptions. A new sofa was added December 2023\. The bedroom and bathroom are just next to the living room. There is 1 bed for sleeping up to 2 guests. The sofa is for sitting, not sleeping. Due to fire zoning regulations we cannot allow cots or air mattresses on the floor. This home is over 100 years old and sits among large, old trees. Unfortunately due to this setting, insects will often make their way into the home. This is a non smoking property. We welcome pets, and if you bring one please be considerate of other groups in the building. Please no dogs that bark if you are away. Dogs must be in a crate if left alone. Keep dogs on a leash at all times. Please note that we do not have a front desk or concierge service. Staying with us will require some “self sufficiency”. You can self check in any time after 4pm and self check out any time before 10am on your day of departure. We are available during reasonable hours to address any questions or concerns, but please note that we are not a corporation and don’t have 24 hour staff. This is a very old house with gas furnaces for heat and window units for air conditioning. You may hear your neighbors. But we do ask that all guests be respectful of one another and that guests with pets, not bring barking dogs that will bother others in the house. Our address is 33 Vance Ave, Black Mountain, NC. Unfortunately we can’t offer luggage storage. The space was very roomy. The shower nozzle was a bit tricky to figure out. The host was responsive. However, when I arrived it was not unwelcoming. The bathroom was not clean. The toilet was brown and hadn't been flushed and there was hair all over the sink. There were spider webs and spiders in the corners so hadn't been dusted recently. There was hair on the coasters and other areas too. It made me feel uncomfortable, like the whole place wasn't very clean. I really wanted to give it another chance and hoped that it was a one time mistake. But the host didn't even try to fix it besides an apology. There were zero efforts into retaining me and could have at the very least offered me a discount on a future booking or the current booking. Very disappointing. I gave an overall four stars but it should probably be less considering cleanliness is one's worst nightmare when staying in a vrbo. ##### Sarah S. The unit is on the backside of the house with a small screened in porch. It was quiet and has a parking spot that is practically right by the entrance (which makes it easy to load and unload). The bed was comfortable and the unit was well stocked. Additionally, you can’t beat the location as you are in very close walking distance to the heart of the downtown and only a few miles from the highway. Would stay again. ##### Christina W. Great location. Walking distances to downtown Black Mountain. Would have wished i had known that we would not have access to the front porch as some other suites. If we did have access , it was not communicated that I remember. Also would have been nice to have somewhere to hang our clothes up. All in all it was a nice place with a great location.
