« Very attentive, enthusiatic team running check ins and the bar/kitchen. Rooms are a little tired, but the location is great. Huge courtyard and plenty of indoor seating for dining/drinking. Beer battered Fish and Chips highly recommended with a pint of Prince Bishop. Food, Beers and accommodation all very good value. »

« Beautiful lodge in a fantastic spot right on the east durham coastal path with fabulous views. The lodge was fully equipped with everything you could possibly need a real home from home. Lovely furniture on the decking to sit and eat, dolphin spot or just watch the world go by! »

« What a gorgeous lodge. The pictures don’t do it justice, it’s even nicer in person. The hot tub was perfect and every item is thought of. A lovely touch - bottle of Prosecco and cheese and crackers in the fridge. There are robes for everyone when you get out of the hot tub and plenty of towels. The newly built pool, steam room and sauna was fabulous. We had no expectations as there isn’t much publicity about it. You need to book a slot in advance and it only opens 9-5 but it was empty both times...

« We had a great weekend staying in the Essex lodge. I found everything to be as described on the website and the hot tub was perfect. Some nice little touches with the sports equipment on the field and the walk in the woods is a hidden gem, well worth the effort. Overall a good area to visit with plenty to do. »

« The lodge was perfect. Spotlessly clean and pretty and everything you could need. However what made our holiday absolutely perfect was the garden the lodge is set in. Stunningly beautiful, magical grounds that you could see from all sides of the lodge. With a folly perfect for an outdoor fire and BBQ. Central to all of the North East and Durham attractions. I have been twice now and can’t wait to go again. Magical! »

« Arriving at the Cottage and walking in through the side door we knew we were in for real treat in this immaculate two bed Cottage, nestled in this sleepy village you couldn’t ask for more . No TV which suited me fine , your spoilt with how quiet this place really is . Highly recommend for those who like peace and quiet.It’s a 10 for me. Alan »
