The house in the sky is surrounded by stunning views of the Caribbean Sea. Fall fast asleep to the lapping of waves from Firefly Beach. There are water taxis coming and going and surfers heading out to favorite destinations. Be as active or lazy as you want...we have hammocks waiting for you. Home to Wizard, Red Frog, and Polo...and just a water taxi to others. Built as a split level house with an open air living area with brand new patio furniture. There is a fully equipped kitchen and 2 bedrooms with en suite bathrooms and guest bathroom. Even the back of the house has an incredible view. It rises above the town so there is privacy. Named Casa del Cielo (House in the Sky) , you walk up many steps to get to the house. \*We recently built a new stairwell for your safety. The 2 bedrooms have full baths, A/C and televisions. There is good WiFi, drinking water, and hot showers. The kitchen has a gas stove, refrigerator and appliances for cooking your own meals. There is also a coffee maker, toaster, blender, and microwave. There are also mini fridges in the bedrooms as well as a guest bathroom downstairs. Bastimentos is a 10 minute boat ride to Bocas town, 10 minutes to famed wave “Silverbacks”, 20 minutes walking trail to Wizard Beach, and quick water taxi to Red Frog and Polo Beach. Take a tour of "Up in the Hill" the chocolate and coffee factory or explore Firefly Beach with it's rocky trails...you might find a perfect conch shell if you're lucky. \*While Basti has a couple of Bodegas you should stop at one of the larger grocery stores in Bocas before coming over. There are Creole restaurants ,bars, and hostels. Lysette's and Alvin and Ketcha's are delicious and affordable. On the higher end is The Firefly, which is a wonderful waterfront dining experience. There is also a police station in the center of town so you will always feel safe. The locals are warm and friendly. This is a true Caribbean island with no big commercial enterprises. It is all geared to adventurous travelers. You have the entire house to yourselves! Marilin will show you the property and then their is access to a lock box at the front door. When you arrive in Bocas head to Lysette's at the dock for a beer and free Wifi to reach Marilin. Marilin is our amazing hostess and manager. She lives in the house below and will assist to your needs during your stay. She lives in the house just below. She speaks both English and Spanish. Of course you can reach me with any questions or concerns. You get here by flying on Air Panama or Skytrip from Panama City or crossing in a van from the Costa Rican border to the main island of Colon.Panama .then taking a Bastimentos water taxi for a 10 minute ride to the main dock on Bastimentos . Fresh water is provided, however, if you need additional water it can be provided for a small fee. Again, please be considerate about usage of AC, water, toilet paper, etc. Most importantly, have a wonderful, memorable experience! Jan 21, 2025 Liked: Check-in, communication Disliked: Cleanliness #### Rustic Place The house has a fantastic view. What was not mentioned is that it is literally 97 steps to get to it. When it rains some of the path way is very muddy. One of the wooden steps is not attached. There are chickens and roosters all around which is entertaining except when the roosters start crowing at 2am. The neighbors blasted music outside of their houses every night we were there which lasted as late as 2am. It was a different house every night with sound equipment set up on the porch. There were towels to use, but literally one bath towel and one beach towel per person. There were no hand towels, washcloths nor kitchen towels. There was only one bath mat even though there was 2 full bathrooms. My standards for cleanliness may be higher than others, as the floors were swept and the linens clean. However, there were dead bugs and debris inside on the counters and in the windows. The beds were comfortable, but there was only one pillow per person. Mar 18, 2025 Liked: Cleanliness, check-in, communication, location, listing accuracy #### Amazing Property Writing this review to quiet some of the concerns of the previous reviewer… this rental was amazing! First, the views cannot be beat and the outdoor deck living space is just wonderful. It is the highest location in this particular spot of Basti, with amazing views and a breeze. It’s basically a very unique tropical jungle treehouse high above the town. The ACs in the bedrooms work very well and there is consistently hot water, with strong water pressure - things that are hard to find on Basti! There are 77 steps (not “literally 97” like another review mentions) but more than half of them are steps from the road and through a little wooded area. The main staircase up the side of the house is about 30 steps straight up and is sturdy. Small price to pay for the incredible view you get in return. And you’re pretty much always sweating in Basti anyway so not a big deal, haha. Yes, there is a bar on the water that plays very loud music some nights - for us, it was only loud Saturday and Sunday night and we were there for 7 nights. Anywhere you stay in this section of Basti will have this issue too, this is not unique to this rental property. We brought earplugs and that helped tremendously. The place was very clean upon arrival. Yes, bugs are around as it’s a jungle, this is not avoided anywhere on the island.We have been to Basti twice and would stay here again in a heartbeat. It’s a special island, this is a special house, and we had a magical time! ##### Erin R.
