Location was excellent, right in the middle of La Ramblas with several train and bus stations nearby, and variety of food and shopping choices, all within walking distance.
However, because we were Asians ( I can't think of any other sensible reason), we were initially given a room where the TV remote doesn't work, the lights were dim and you had to pay for daily cleaning. We were too tired to say anything so we took the room, at least it was peaceful and quiet.
What took the cake for us was the presence of roaches in the room! We marched straight to the reception and basically told them this was the first time I had stayed in a hotel, Citadines no less, that had roaches.
Guess what? We were given another room in the newer wing where EVERYTHING works and it was such a bright clean room compared to the dark, dingy corner room we were given earlier.
Reception did not even apologise when we told him about the roaches, only upon checking out did they ask about our stay. We're not the kind of guests that usually cause any problem with unreasonable demands & complaints; we would have probably continued to stay in the first room if not for the roaches.
So, Asians and non-European travellers, please beware this double standards that's still being practised in some places. It's so unethical.
