They are careless and run a terrible business. My key was deactivated when I returned from dinner at 11 pm. The front desk was not open. I found some marking material at the front desk that listed an emergency hotel line to let them know I was locked out. There was a language barrier with the person on the hotline and it took a lot of time to explain what was needed. There were 2 other people in the lobby experiencing the same situation and were locked out too. 30 minutes later, the attendant brought over a key that also didn’t work. About an hour passed and the attendee I had been talking to on my phone told me to walk to another hotel where I could obtain the master key. Around 12:30am, I walked about 10 minutes in the snow to another property. After a lot of confusion by the attendee, I obtained the master key and went back to my hotel. The master key also did not work. This was the 3rd card that didn’t work. At this point it was 1:30 in the morning. I received the managers number and told them the master key didn’t work. They called a maintenance person. I tried to fall asleep on a chair on the lobby and sometime after 2am the maintenance person came with a key that enabled me to get back to my room. Both the St James and the property manager Vacasa knew I had experienced this terrible situation. I was locked out of my room for over 3 hours in the middle of the night. No one called to check on me or to offer credit for a night stay after the lock out. I am completely shocked by the lack of service and encourage anyone who reads this to avoid this property. ##### Colleen Q.
