This was my first time in Atlanta, and I can’t say enough great words about The Starling! In fact, I’d be scared to ever stay anywhere else because I don’t know if it would be as impeccable! The service, the decor, and the ambience alone was unmatched! My room was lovely and clean, and the bed was comfortable. I loved the vibe (and the food and drinks) of the Lantana, and I loved the convenience of Politan Row and Colony Park. I also appreciated its closeness to Piedmont Park as I enjoyed renting an E bike and riding around the park and stopping at the botanical gardens. The Starling is also a couple miles away from the museums, like the National Museum for Civil and Human Rights, as well as the Coca-Cola Museum and the Georgia Aquarium, which I enjoyed very much. Very walkable area, right around some great restaurants like Rumi’s and 5 Church. I did not rent a car and did not need to for what I was doing, which was literally just relaxing and doing a little sightseeing. The regular tv channels said “no signal” and the apps for Netflix and tubi wouldn’t load 2nd our shower wasn’t working properly. The water wasn’t going down the drain. It was backing up in the tub and taking forever to drain out. Our room looked nothing like the pictures and the reviews we saw. I picked a specific room when I booked the hotel. When we arrived we were told we were getting an upgraded room. The room was just on a higher floor and looked like a regular room. That’s not an upgrade. The restaurant at the hotel charges outrageous prices for a little portion of food, the drinks at the bar are high priced. Parking at the hotel is ridiculous at $79 per night. Then if you want to buy anything at the hotel like bottles of soda, water, chips or candy it’s $5 EACH. We don’t recommend this hotel, nor would we stay here again. The staff was outstandingly kind and helpful. The hotel room was very nice and neat but could you use a little bit of repair on certain things. The breakfast was really nice and the breakfast area extremely comfortable. I would say the only thing that I found surprising is that really anyone could have followed me in the elevator to my floor. There was no security- having to check at the entrance with your card that leads you to the room could have been an added security feeling. There should be a system where at any point someone could come to you and ask you to validate the fact that you are a guest. My stars were all high. But my overall rating was a three. This is because of small things that added up. The shower kept going from scalding hot to freezing cold every minute or so. There was \*constant\* banging around heard from another room that could be heard in the bathroom, even at 3am. The snack bar was not staffed, the machine wouldn't work with cards, and they had no utensils for things like ice cream. The sink was slow to drain, so it backed up frequently. One of the elevators broke. The room was rather small for the price. However, the room was clean. The bed was AMAZING. The staff was respectful and nice. The restaurant was good. The location was exactly what we needed. Parking was perfect (though expensive) and valet was optional. They went above and beyond to help bring my boyfriends birthday surprise to life, fully embracing the idea and delivering each note perfectly. Their willingness to play along, their attention to detail, and their genuine kindness made the entire experience feel so special and seamless. I’m honestly so elated and grateful for how accommodating and thoughtful they both were. It’s rare to come across people who not only do their job well but also put heart into what they do—and Regina and Dontrell did exactly that. The site is gorgeous and the staff amazing and very attentive. The room had an odd smell after the first day maybe the shower drain? It did end up fading but was off. The shower head and sink also seemed to clog. The tv couldn't pick up local channels. They did send someone to fix it right away but we were needing to be in the room so we told them not to worry about it. This is the reason for the 4 starts instead of five. The functionality of the room could be improved. That's being said I'd stay here again but it just wouldn't be my first choice. The location is an amazing with a food hall you can access from the second floor and a ton of restaurants around. Upon arrival (Friday, 9:45 pm), valet was extremely crowded. Apparently, The Starling is a popular night life spot. When I finally made my way to the valet, I wasn't greeted. A security guard informed me it would be more affordable to self park if I didn't plan to go in and out multiple times ($30 vs. $69 for valet). The music in the lobby was uncomfortably loud and I had to the man at the front desk to constantly repeat himself. He also didn't give me any of the requisite details (i.e. explaining the incidental hold, wifi info, restaurant info, etc.) while his counterpart was very thorough with the guest he was checking in. The room underwhelming--it was basic and simple, with an overly soft bed and pillows, and terrible lighting. The next morning, I woke up late and asked the front desk to have housekeeping come to my room. A note was made, but my room was never cleaned. On Sunday, I went to breakfast at the hotel's restaurant which was excellent. The ladies working at the restaurant were enthusiastic, kind, excited, and knowledgeable. Nicole attended to me and she was fantastic! I would stay here again, but only at a discounted rate. It wasn't bad for $378 for 2 nights/3 days.
