I attempted a number of times to cancel my booking due to having a sick child that I needed to bring home instead of staying in a hotel. I emailed both expedia and the hotel.I also called expedia and the hotel. I also chatted online with both Expedia and the hotel. All of which were unsuccessful due to the certain policies that the hotels have. However, I did buy the insurance and when I asked about that, I was told that I would still be charged my normal rate of a $177. There was no talk about, possibly getting a slight discount. The hotel thought that I wanted to get out of the room for free, which I was not asking for. I understand that I was canceling last minute. However, it was more than 24 hours notice that I tried to contact people someone to help me. The only thing that was offered to me was that I could have the room if I come back within a week. I live 3 and a 1/2 hours away from this place. I am not gonna run back down to stay in a room. No discounts were offered.
This is why I am not giving stars. Could be a very nice place, but i wouldn't know because they didn't have any compassion or empathy with the situation that I was in.
