There are a few restaurants, an art gallery, and a gas station in town. Firewood can be purchased in Ashford at the General Store or the firewood vending machine outside of Jacob’s Barber. There are also places along the highway that sell wood bundles. The pillows were nice and the beds were comfortable, but on the firm side. The kitchen was missing any oven mitts and good cutting knives. We didn’t feel like the water was a strong mineral flavor, but then we ‘re on a well at home ;). The fireplace may be its best feature, but no wood provided. It was generally comfortable, however, we thought it a little over priced. When we walked in, onto a thread-bare carpet, the floor beneath gave way under our feet. The bathroom cabinet needs an upgrade. (See pics) The front side of the cabin is definitely settled so the floor is not level, making us feel off-balance walking down the hallway! The bedroom doors are propped open with door stops for this reason, or they would close of their own accord. The driveway access to the cabin was a bit sketchy and I can’t imagine doing it in winter. We’ll be looking for a more updated cabin next time we head to Ashford. Overall, we appreciated this stay on short notice. Séjour de 2 nuits en avril 2022 ### 4/10 – Médiocre #### Rachel R. 28 mars 2022 Points faibles : Propreté #### Needs Improvement The cabin is rustic, but unfortunately in need of repairs and pest control. Two of the three internal doors don’t latch when closed, so if anyone opens a door, the bathroom door will as well, which leads to some awkward moments when you’re doing your business. One of the “clean” towels on the rack smelled strongly of windex when I used it to wipe my face, and it left that cleaner smell on my skin until I washed it again. Then? There were the mice. Three mice of different sizes emerged after we lit a fire in the fireplace on our second night. That was concerning. Also? For as high as the cleaning fees are, the place was not very clean. Dusty, cobwebby, thick layer of grime on the top ledge of the bathroom cabinets, etc. Lastly, signage on the counter suggested that the water might not be safe to drink, so we hauled in our own water. For as much as we paid on our trip, we honestly expected better than this. ##### Rachel R.
