"The Chateau Colbert has been extensively restored over the past 20 years or so to a very high standard. This has obviously been a labour of love for the present owners. The rooms are very comfortable and the views over the river and forests were outstanding. The food and service were exceptional and the dining room was a wonderful place to eat. They have the largest Japanese garden in Europe which we definitely return to see. The Chateau is highly recommended."

"First, the hotel room, staff and location were great. It would have been nice to know that major construction has been going on for a while, and will continue for some time to come. In absolute fairness, this did NOT impact sleep at the place. It did distract from a welcoming feeling. Trucks, cranes etc were the first thing we saw as we got there. "This is an excellent choice for seeing Saumur. It is in an old building with a lot of character. My room was large, with wooden beamed ceiling, tall windows that opened, and a limestone fireplace I wish I had in my home. Ensuite had shower and had plenty of space. Bed was comfortable. Staff was friendly and quite helpful. The hotel is part of a very large restaurant with good food and good service. It is in the main shopping and dining area, and within a short walk to the Chateau, which is the...
