One of Blackpool’s three docks, South Pier is packed full of entertainment and family fun. Thrilling amusement rides whisk you into the air, providing stunning views of the beach and the rest of the city center. Visit South Pier with your kids on a warm day to indulge in the carnival atmosphere whipped up by Blackpool’s coastal activities. Watch your little ones crashing into one another from the safety of their bumper cars. Among the highlights of the amusement park are the Crazy Coaster and the Waltzer. Relax with a drink in the Laughing Donkey Family Bar, where you can dine with a picturesque view of the sea lapping at the sides of the pier. A charming beer garden has tables set out on the deck. Toddlers will enjoy the smaller and more leisurely activities in the Children’s Rides area. Brave yourself for the Adrenaline Zone, whose famous gravity-defying Sky Coaster swings from a great height. Take on the huge climbing web and try acrobatics from the safety of a trampoline harness. Head inside the arcade game area and play your rivals at air hockey. Try your luck on the slot machines and try to win stuffed animals or other prizes amid the flashing lights in the circus tent. Consider the history of the pier, which was regarded as more high-end than its two siblings at its inception in 1893. Over the years, it has been widened and restored after fire damage. The pier is open to the public year round, 24 hours a day, with operating hours for rides varying for weather conditions. The South Pier juts out into the sea from the southwestern corner of Blackpool’s city center. Take a tram to the adjacent South Pier stop or walk here in about 15 minutes from the Blackpool South train station.
