"Very nice host, comfortable and clean amenities. But be advice that is not an hotel, the property is located inside a residential building with multiple gates, so it was not easy to access right away, but after you get the keys is alright."

"This is my second stay here. It is in a great location, and has fantastic views from the rooftop solarium. Not a luxury hotel, but Antonio is very good with his hospitality, and makes sure that you have everything that you need. Grazie mille!"

"A really cozy little place run by a super friendly couple. The breakfast was out of this world! Worth getting out of the shower for... Will definitely be going back."

"The B&B is in a lovely area. About five minutes walk to lots of great restaurants. Parking is on the street. It’s a busy street but we didn’t have any issues finding a spot out the front. And we didn’t have issues with noise from the street in the evening, even though our apartment was on the street side. There is a communal kitchen/dining area with a balcony that serves three apartments. Breakfast is self serve as you please with lots of fresh options. "

"For the price, it's 5-star. Very clean, no frills. AC works! There's soap and towels. Wonderful view from the common area balcony on the 2nd floor (no views from room)! They have limited parking space inside the compound, which was extremely helpful! The owners were sweet and helpful. We had a bit of communication issue at first, which was easily solved once face-to-face with google translate through phone. The only challenge was we didnt get much check-in details prior to arriving. So once...

"1. Mismatch between marketing and operations
Photos are usually taken under ideal conditions (fully stocked buffet, low occupancy, premium setup).
In reality:
Lower food turnover.
More basic presentation.
Limited staff during peak hours.
2. Breakfast: the main pain point
What you describe is typical:
Low protein options → mostly carbs (bread, pastries, cereals).
Limited or no hot items.
Slow replenishment.
This is driven by the Ibis model:
Breakfast included but cost-optimized.
In Italy, breakfast culture is lighter (espresso + pastry), which further lowers the baseline compared to international expectations.
3. Service
Lean staffing → slower response times.
In cities like Catania, service tends to be less structured than in major hubs like Milan or Rome.
Focus is more on functionality than guest experience.
4. Location vs expectation
This specific property:
Is located in Acireale, not central Catania.
Operates more as a transit/business hotel rather than a leisure-focused experience."
"Hotel is a bit difficult to find with GPS. Rooms and hotel were very clean. Breakfast was very nice as was dinner. The cleaning staff were talking in the hotel corridor outside of the room at 8am, when we were trying to sleep. The hotel is located on the main street, and the room was located right above the street, which was very noisy with people revving up motorcycles until 12 midnight, which again made for difficult sleeping. The hotel staff was very helpful in assisting us with unloading our luggage from our car and taking it up to the room and also when we left. "
"The hotel was a perfect place to stay in Acireale. This was our second time at this hotel and it was just as good as we remembered. Deborah and Rita were both incredibly helpful and made our visit even that much more enjoyable."
'CASA ARANCI' self catering villa, great sea views, close to piazza Duomo
10/10 Excellent
"Mario is a delightful and oh-so-helpful host for his beautiful space. He goes out of his way to help, and it makes the life of a traveler so much easier. The space itself is lovely, with the 3rd floor (kitchen and deck and sitting area) being the stand-out. We personally loved the bells chiming (6 a.m. - 10 p.m.). We were a group of 4, two single women and a couple, and the space gave us all both our privacy and our communal space. I cannot give a big enough shout-out to Mario---thank you SO MUCH!!"
"Best hotel i ever stayed at. It was hard to find but once found, you dont need car anymore as everything is nearby. Room was big and spacious. The key weighed a ton. "
"The location was so convenient to the Carnivale events. The room was large and comfortable. It overlooked the courtyard with orange and lemon trees. The breakfast was delicious. A traditional Italian breakfast wb

VILLA "LUNA" BETWEEN ETNA CATANIA AND TAORMINA THE SEA TO 2KM
8/10 Good
"Room clean, actually had the choice of two rooms once we arrived. Parking is right outside the gate, access is simple. Gisella and Orazio were great hosts and explained everything very well."
"We had an absolutely wonderful stay at Hotel Santa Tecla Palace. The facilities were excellent - beautiful infinity pool overlooking the sea, just like the photos. Plenty of sunbeds to relax in. Easy access to swim in the sea from the hotel, with lifeguards on duty. Delicious food at all the restaurants. There isn't much to do in the immediate surrounding area - we walked into the nearest town one evening but we decided that the bars and restaurants on offer at the hotel were much nicer. This was perfect for us as we had intended our short trip to be a relaxing one based in the hotel, but for anyone hoping to explore Sicily a bit more I'd recommend renting a car, as taxis can be expensive. Marigré Beautiful sea house,sun,relax,Wi-fi&garden,terrace Etna and sea view

"Peppe is a very nice host, very responsive and attentive to all our needs. He gave us all the advices about the surrounding areas, restaurants, lidos, swimming, parking, etc. and was very easy to communicate with.We had access to two kitchens and they were very nicely equipped with everything needed to prepare meals in the house. We had very nice breakfast in the garden with the view of mountain Etna and enjoyed outdoors shower.Swimming in the area is possible from the the wooden platforms built among black volcanic rocks, all of them including private ones are open to public by the local law to get to the water. There are also public platforms for sunbathing and a small public beach in town with black volcanic sand. We enjoyed a trip to Taormina and a boat tour in the bay. Very nice and relaxing place!"

If you love to catch a show while traveling, you'll want to get tickets at Puppet Theatre and Museum or L'Antico Teatro dei Pupi during your trip to Acireale.
