« Lilly, Ben and the rest of the Toafa Lodge team went out of their way to ensure we had an awesome stay. We really appreciated all they did for us, including catering for my vegetarian diet, setting up Netflix on the big screen on a rainy night, organising a tour, lending us umbrellas and ponchos, helping us organise transport back, picking us up and dropping us off - even at Crazy O’clock - and much, much more. On top of that, the rooms are lovely, comfortable and spacious. And there's an AC...

« Great location for exploring Nuku’alofa. ( can easily walk into town, markets, supermarket, cafes). Nice outside dining area. Really set up for four or fewer people so we didn’t have enough beds, cutlery, etc for 6baby. Tonga is very basic with minimal infrastructure so keep this in mind when booking anywhere, it’s common for this ‘basic’ to be ‘not functional’. Hosts responded very quickly to messages. »

« We loved our stay here. We loved the simple Tongan style accommodation. There are only 3 fales set in beautiful tropical gardens where guests are allowed to pick their own pawpaw and coconuts. It is private, secure and quiet, set beside the best snorkelling beach in Tonga with the use of kayaks. The coral is amazing to the right of the beach but you need to be careful to go when it’s calmer and lower tide. We saw whales swim past from the family unit we were staying in. The flying foxes (bats)...

« My adult daughter and I made a great decision in picking The Friendly Islander for our accommodation on Tongatapu. From the very start Papiloa’s team aimed to make your stay the very best possible. When we arrived over two hours early for check-in it was not a problem. When we wanted a really late check-out was not a problem. When we couldn’t get on tours, due to very short notice, it was not a problem – Papiloa took us on private tours to see tourist sights, many other places of interest and...
