Had a great time on the trip-- 2 adults, 1 child and 1 teen. Endless things to do (bowling, family lounge, beach activities, pool activities, shows, etc.). Miguel was our concierge and he was great- helping us getting reservations and even going out of his way to help my partner get something that was needed. We liked the Mexican restaurant the best-- food elsewhere was just okay but that's been my experience at most resorts. Had fun in all the pools. The family went snorkeling in the lagoon and we saw some fish and later saw a star fish in a little tide pool. The only annoying thing was in the main square, people kept trying to get us to go for a timeshare seminar- but we just politely declined. Also the soft ice cream at the hamburger place only had cups (and no cones) but they didn't have any spoons, so that made it hard to eat. But these are small things compared to a great time all in all!

Our expectations were high for this storied resort. But ultimately, we were disappointed. The scene on arrival was chaotic. With our Expedia premium status we were told earlier arrival was possible. But our rooms were not available until considerably past the 4 PM check in time. The overly crowded beach made it impossible to find three beach chairs. The food was OK, but not equal to the cost. Our best time was up at Alto de Chevon, a quiet and lovely village recreation. Bottom line… We were so excited and thinking we would prolong our stay there our final day but instead found ourselves anxious to leave. Too bad. Considering it’s famous past we felt it had lost it magic.

Bird poop and cloudy water in pools with bouncy setup - pretty disgusting - as a physician I suggest avoiding those if you can. Food - 6/10 - ok for AI but not your typical big city average restaurant food. Diarrhea 3 days out of the 6\. Hotel staff service 8/10\. They are very nice and accommodating Room - Excellent 9/10 Gym - 10/10\. Best hotel gym by far

The rooftop jacuzzi room is a 3-star at best. Shoddy patchwork on walls and ceilings. The room had a sofa with stains all over it.The toilet room is so small you can barely move. The staff was not very friendly at all, other than our butler and a couple of the cooks. Vendors are EVERYWHERE and the property does nothing to control their harassment and begging. The food was edible. I would compare it to the food I had on deployment in the Persian Gulf. IF there was queso, it was always cold. The guacamole was virtually non-existent and instead of a true pepperoni pizza, they cut up slices of hot dog and slap it on a pizza crust. Who does that? The steak restaurant is comparable to Outback at best. The sushi is horrible in texture and the Italian restaurant is nothing more than Stouffer’s frozen lasagna, if that. The Adults Only section is NOT Adults Only! We will not be returning to the Majestic or to the Dominican. Once you leave the resort, the place is filthy with people dumping trash wherever there is an opening and is completely run down.
