The Cottage by the Sea is a fantastic ocean front home that is on a bluff with outstanding cliff side views.
This is a warm, comfortable, and welcoming cottage that has a newly remodeled fireplace in the living room.
This cozy hideaway is a small group favorite.
There is no direct beach access, but state beaches are an easy drive away both to the south and north one mile.

Bluff Oasis

This booking was basically as described and reviewed. It was close to the main road, but the views from the bluff were spectacular! I was excited for the fireplace, especially early morning burns with coffee, watching the sunrise....unfortunately the damper was not functioning at all...so we didnt get to enjoy it like we had wished. It is an older house with much needed repairs and a refresh. It has amazing potential! Also, the shower you step down into it and even then, the shower head is MAYBE 5'. I am 5'6" and had to squat down to wash above my shoulders. My partner is 6'4", so he basically was on his knees to shower. Besides those things, it is a cute, little older rental house. It was peaceful and a little getaway from our everyday life in Walton. It also is super close to beaches and make sure to get out to see the tidepools! For the price, though, we would stay there again! We did not try out the sauna....maybe next time!

I came for 4th of July weekend with my anxious dog to avoid the fireworks, and it was a perfect, quiet escape. You can hear the traffic from 101 pretty clearly, but it didn’t bother me. Like others have said, there are problems in the house—lumpy mattress, dirty windows, stains in the overhead kitchen lighting—but still a pleasant stay overall. The strangest thing to me was an updated shower, but the showerhead is only appropriate for someone 5’ tall and zero lighting. You shower bent over in the dark. And the bedroom carpet definitely has a funk. We loved the view, seeing pelicans fishing and a few spouts from a passing whale! The house met our needs pretty well, but I likely wouldn’t stay here again.

Very convenient to Yachats. Clear communication with rental folks. Granted extension on departure allowing us full time tide pooling during the minus tide. Thank you!Love the incredible Oregon coast!Happened to be perfect weather.Likely to stay there again.

We enjoyed this little cottage

We loved the location, the view and the yard. We found a stairway to the beach and truly loved our walks there. The grocery in Yachats was just perfect. We visited many places both North and South of the cottage. Our only real problem was the cottage wasn't clean, there were mice and We had to clean the windows to be able to see the ocean. I'm sure the problem was with the cleaning service not the owner.

Great view, Awful House!!

As everyone mentions, the view is exceptional. However, the house is horrible!! The location is not good, directly on the highway and dangerous pulling out to leave anywhere. Everything is old/dirty (floors, curtains, furniture, etc). The lights in kitchen are disgustingly old/dirty (old-fried bugs when you look up). Not to mention the crazy, step-down (2+ ft) very old/dark shower. The furniture is a whole other story—dirty and so uncomfortable that we couldn’t get through 1 movie without getting up and moving around to stretch. Was like sitting on cardboard! The place was filled with fluffy dog hair on floor. Also, no way to get air flow (ie open windows) and place is stuffy in pm. Not worth the stay, even for the views, in our opinion.

fabulous place to watch waves and birds. Peaceful time . Well stocked kitchen and clean home. Mattress needs improvement and the shower needs better lighting and tiles repairs or replaced. Spent over a week here and truly enjoyed our time.

Delightful

The property was clean and well cared for. Location was spectacular, right next to the beach and tide pools. Wildlife in abundance. The Brown Pelicans were fishing in ernest all four days.

Nice location with a beautiful view.

Everything was wonderful, especially the view. No cell service but wifi worked decently. Only problems were we could not find the outdoor garbage receptacle and the locks on both the front and back doors were almost impossible to lock or unlock, we were afraid we were going to break the keys. Note that there are no stores, gas stations or other services near by except a couple limited places in Yachts and most of the restaurants were already closed for the season.

Whale spouts

Excellant view! Saw some whale spouts from the front window. House is aged, but was comfortable and had everything we needed. Sleeper sofa was reasonably comfortable. Beach access was down the neighbors steep driveway and along their yard which felt a little uncomfortable. Need to beach at low tide, tidepools. Only negative for us was the weird step down shower. We would stay here again.

Perfect Coastal Cottage

This property is located in a perfect location. Plenty of outdoor adventure to explore and the adorable town of Yachats is only minutes away. The cottage is clean and cozy. Exactly the relaxing getaway we were hoping for. Will definitely come back!

Delightful from sunsets to stormy seas!

The Cottage by the Sea is so cozy and sweet as a getaway that you will be checking the calendar for the next open week right away! As a stay-home-and-read place you will happily rest on the sofa or the cushy oversized armchair, looking out the several large windows facing the sea and lookup along the shore. With few homes along the way you will feel like it is just you and the sea. For travelling about you have lovely Yachats just north and Florence not too far south, and miles of rugged, lovely Oregon coast. Access to the highway is usually easy, though on crowded days you will want to plan your approach to the cottage. You will have a full kitchen, though narrow, with everything you need for a stay, and cabinet space to stock in your own groceries. The (low-water) washer and dryer are comparatively quiet but reliable. The internet is up to 10Mbps, 7-9Mbps up, and was quite reliable over the few days of our stay. Streaming worked well on the provided Roku. The bed is soft and comfy. With the window open a little you can hear the ocean as you sleep...it never stops. The shower/bath is dated but working well. The included sauna is a unique touch, to be used with care. Overall the cottage is a uniquely lovely stay. We are already making our plans for a longer future stay. It is an absolutely beautiful retreat!

Relaxing Retreat

During a time when being in public is very stressful, this little cottage provided a vacation getaway for us that was just perfect. We could cook our own meals and enjoy the coast. We were definitely come to the spot again in the future.

Great place to unwind.

Once again the cabin did not disappoint me. Sitting by the fire and listening to the rain outside while ringing in the new year. Nothing could be finer in my eyes. This is a great place to unwind and renew yourself. Short walk or drive will get you to some pretty great beaches.

Based on the reviews I read, I knew what to expect. There was definitely a musty smell. No windows open. They are all picture windows. So the only way to get fresh air is to open the windows in the screen doors. The view was beautiful. Overall, we were not unhappy with the weekend. But good to know what to expect.

I was over the moon with this house. The views were to die for and the cabin has an overall great feel. Hearing the waves outside crashing on the rocks was relaxing. It had everything that i could ask for. Ive already booked it for New Years.
