The décor of the Citadines Hotel is a little dated but very clean, very central and very welcoming. Breakfast and dinner meals were excellent, even for vegetarians. Our apartment, which was on the 7th floor, had a small kitchen, a large sitting room, and an adjoining bedroom with separate shower and toilet. From our window we had a wonderful view of the Drum Tower fully lit at night. We were just a 2-3-minute walk from the vibrant, colourful – and noisy – Muslim Quarter, the spectacular Great Mosque and Xian’s excellent subway trains. It was great having washing and drying machines available on site, as we travel light and do washing at least once a week while on holidays. The rooftop garden gave great views of the city, and we even made use of the very large pool table upstairs. The staff were all friendly and helpful. We would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Xian.

About two months preior my booked date, I'd got a message from the hotel (Citadines Central Xian) that the it is going to be renovated and will be closed during the time I booked. They suggested me to choose any hotel from their chain with the same price. I choose Citadines Xingqing Palace Xian. the hotel is good, I had smooth check in, the staff was friendly and had good English, breakfast was OK (mostly Chinese breakfast with few western choices)

Prime location
Okay so location was prime, smack right in the middle of walking distance to the Muslim Quarters, Bell Tower, street food and shopping, food everywhere, if you like the local Muslim food flavors....lots of cumin. They have a fake KFC aka Wallace, it was very tasty, be prepared to wait though, cause they cook your chicken as you order it, so it's piping hot and fresh when you get it. Staff was great, Cindi speaks English very well, there is another gal who speaks very well too, but I never got her name. The maids do not understand English, but if you communicate via sign language, you'll get what you need. Facility has a gorgeous rooftop view, but the lights do not work outside....there is a pool table on the top floor, nice big gym facility and separate yoga room. The facility can definitely use some upgrades, but it was very spacious. My shower walls were slimy, but other than that, they did their best. Given the prime location, I would consider staying here again if I was to ever go back to Xi'an. Terra Cotta soldiers is a must! If you stay here, take the bus, ask hotel for info. And get the transportation service from the airport, cost is 280 rmb one way, there were 6 of us and our luggage, we made it fit into a business Buick van, nice comfy ride. Tip the driver, it's a long drive, they are not accustomed to receiving tips, it are very grateful for it. Chinese people work hard and do not expect anything in return.

Hotel is in a great location, you can walk to many many things. The rooms are quite spacious (especially for China standards) - they are also used for longer term stays therefore offered a very small kitchen and had a laundry room on site for use :) Staff were very friendly and many could speak English which was helpful for us! The breakfast that was included in our booking offered many options and was quite good for China standards. I would definitely stay here again and try their facility in other cities.

We arrived late at night ie 2am in the morning.The check in was very good.Very fast and efficient.The counter staff was very pleasant.The only downside was we were placed on different floors for our 3 roome.This situation was rectified the next morning without any fuss.

The rooms were nicely structured. The entire hotel reeked of cooking oil smell. Couldn’t wash off that smell even after one round of laundry. Concierge spoke fluent English, but wasn’t aware of accessing famous sites using public transportation.

Rooms really comfortable with all the furniture needed. Breakfast is not so good, not many occidental options and the restaurant was not so clean. Great to have a self-laundry service. People at the front desk really nice and kind.

Comfortable small efficiency apartment, sitting area, kitchenette, comfortable queen bed, HBO, breakfast buffet. Staff spoke English well. Great location as it was walking distance from the main sites. Some back alleyways nearby if your brave and wish to eat what locals eat. apartment was very spacious although air conditioning could stronger.

We Love this Hotel!!
This hotel is great! It is better than we expected. It locates in the center of the Xi'An city and you can walk to the major tourist favorite attractions. The hotel room is spacious and very clean. It has even cooking appliances! Amazing hotel!

This apartment is in a great location. It is very close to the metor cstation, the Bell and Drum towers, and the Muslim quarter. The room was very clean, and staff at the front desk spoke excellent English. The breakfast not really to Western taste but was okay.

This hotel is in a great location, but that’s about all it has going for it. Our room was badly outdated with many stains on the carpet an furniture. The carpet was badly worn, and needed to be replaced. Our bed was very hard. On check-in we requested 2 key cards, because there are 2 of us, and the keycard was needed to operate the elevator and move throughout the building, but they refused, stating that they didn’t have enough. We ended up moving to a different hotel, and forfeiting the first night’s fees, which was one of the best choices we made on this trip. I suspect they have some rooms that are nicer than others, so your experience may vary, but I wouldn’t book there again regardless.

No AC all weekend! Nasty, grim, horrid breakfast!
We really weren't expecting much- we travel extensively and I had read the previous reviews... but, this place is much worse than its ranking reflects. The AC has not worked at all in one of our rooms the entire time we have been here- forcing us to sleep all four adults in one studio room-the response from the front desk? "The mechanic doesn't work until Monday!" The room is very run down and dirty, the hallways are absolutely GRIM, the breakfast buffet is totally inedible- even the fried rice and noodles were cooked in old oil and were quite nasty- you can't even make a piece of toast since there isn't butter- just a horrible bin of margarine that sits out, gets dug in by frantic buffet patrons, and then is reused again the next morning!! Even the tea was disgusting and tasted like dirt. The only good thing is the location- but there are 100s of other hotels in this very same area- I wish I had seen something about how bad this place was before booking!!!

The hotel is okay, nothing to write home about, bathroom was grubby with mould in the tiles. Location wasn't too bad, easy access to metro. Local Japanese restaurant was sensational. Breakfast at the hotel was not suitable for Western guests, but we still gave it a go.

Walking distance to bell tower. However the hotel is poorly maintained. Receptionist are rude with no smile and greeting. Moldy and dusty room. And i can see some damages of the furniture. We have to push our door hard in order to get into the room everytime. Requested for non smoking room but can feel the smoking smell.

The location is so amazing and near so many historical places and whatever you need. The receptionists are good at english and you can easily talk to them. The breakfast is ok but the same everyday and I think they need to change at least some items daily.

Very good hotel on a great location. Walk to everything in the centre of the old town, pleasant 10 minute walk to South Gate and 2 minutes to Drum Tower and fascinating Muslim Quartet.

Great location, the bed was comfy even though the room aged a little but that was no problem. Variety of breakfast is not many, you will get bored if you stay for several nights.

Cranky hotel
1. Staffs did not seem helpful when you asked for location or idea on closing times of tourist destinations 2. Super loud toilet exhaust. The switch turns on both the light and exhaust - so if you want to use toilet in the middle of the night, you risk waking up the others. 3. Asked for extra pillows (1 per person), we had 3 person - they gave 2 and cited that the hotel does not have enough - REALLY? Entire hotel only have 2 extra pillows? 4. Shower temperature sometimes turn cold and hot in between.

Loved the location. It was an easy walk to the Bell Tower Plaza, Old Town, Great Mosque, and Gao House. Staff was very accommodating and friendly. WiFi was excellent. The only reason I didn't rate it overall excellent was the facility is starting to show some age and the AC was not the best.

Nice hotel near the Bell and Drum Tower
The hotel is located very close to the Bell and Drum Tower. It is about 5 minutes walking to them. There are a lot of things to see near it and a lot of activity. The room was nice and comfortable for me. The concierge was helpful during my stay at the hotel. The maid service was good. The breakfast was free for me, but did not want to eat the same thing every morning. So went to McDonald’s or Starbucks a few morning, which are both very close by. WiFi in room was good. Many TV stations, but most were Chinese stations. They had a few English TV stations. To summarize, this is a very good hotel to stay at in Xi’an. I would definitely stay there again.

Good Locatoin .Near to almost everything.
Hotel room is just nice for the 2 of us. But the closet is rather small for both us since we will be staying for 7 days n not enough space to hang our clothings.Cleaning of the room and bathroom was okay. However the bath towels n face towels did not smell fresh after changing them daily because they still felt moist n not totally dry n did not smell fresh.The breakfast spread was good n has enough variety.However, the front desk staff need to improve on their communication skill in english as most guests are english speaking. There is a need to place an english speaking staff at the breakfast area because I noticed many english speaking guests were not able to tell the chinese speaking restaurant staff who were frying eggs at her station that the kind/type of egg(s) they wanted her to prepare i.e.sunny set up or scramble eggs or others.

Lovely stay and close to tourist attractions
Clean building and rooms. Great facilities including the gym, pool table and rooftop access. It was only a little bit of a walk from public transport but once you’re there, it’s very close to everything that you need eg muslim market , bell tower, convenience stores, restaurants. Definitely recommend it to family and friends.

This hotel is not as the pictures show. The hotel is very old and run down, our bathroom door was broken in half then glued back together, making it very difficult to open. There is a smoky smell all throughout the hotel. The hotel staff cannot speak any English and the breakfast provided in the cafe was not appealing in taste or smell. We booked transfers through the hotel, our pick up car was 45mins late and our departure car took us to the airport instead of the train station. The hotel is in good proximity to the city centre as well as the drum and bell towers. However there are also nicer hotel in the same vicinity. I wouldn’t book here again and it lets down the quality of the the Citadines brand.

Nice apartment and location but....
It is an old apartment, it needs re-modeling but the room we stayed #0609 is quite clean and the room service clean the room daily. The location is excellent, it close to Drum Tower just across the street.

Great location
After being delayed over 7 hours I arrived early in the morning and was able to check in easily. Room was nice overlooking the park. Breakfast was a large selection of delicious food. Hotel is very central to metro and close to The Bund.
