In the heart of Mortehoe village and surrounded by National Trust coastline, Old Bakery Cottage is in a superb location for a beach or walking holiday. This popular spacious cottage has all modern facilities, superb sea views from the roof terrace and living area and easy access to beaches and coastline. It is ideal for family holidays and accommodates 6 people comfortably, with three bedrooms situated on the ground floor. The cottage is a fantastic base for local beaches and country walks. Of all our cottages in Mortehoe this possibly has the best sea views. Stunning National Trust coastland stretches in all directions and the famous beaches of Woolacombe bay are within walking distance or short hop by car. Pony-trekking, surfing and golf facilities are available locally. Just a 10 minute walk from the cottage is Grunta Beach, great for rock pooling and sheltered bathing and just through the village on the way to the lighthouse is the coastal footpath down to Rockham Beach with the remains of a ship wreck still to be found. Three great pubs serving locally produced food, a Fish & Chips, Deli, two tea rooms, Post Office, village store, church, gift shop, Mortehoe Museum and under 11’s play area are all in the village just minutes from the cottage. This characterful, quirky cottage has the bedrooms on the ground floor and living area upstairs to take full advantage of the views to the rolling hills to the left or the sea in front. There are 2 double bedrooms (one with small en-suite w/c & shower) - 1 room with 3ft bunks - Utility/drying room with washing machine (no dryer) –fitted bathroom – Upstairs is the open plan room with new for 2020 galley kitchen one end with cooker, fridge/freezer, microwave, slim-line dishwasher etc - through to large living/dining room with gas-flame effect fire, 2 white leather sofas, dining table and chairs, wall mounted Smart TV and Bluetooth speaker/docking station with USB charger. This cottage also has Wi-Fi. An absolute winner with good sized roof terrace with superb sea views. Bed linen & one bath/one hand towel per person provided - please bring beach towels. There is a travel cot and high chair. Parking is in the local Mortehoe village car park. You can drop off and unload at the cottage. There is a good value visitors parking permit that covers the village car park and 23 other local council car parks in the area. https://www.northdevon.gov.uk/parking/parking-permits/visitor-and-tourist-permits/4-and-7-day-permits/ The village car park is just a short stroll away. Four or seven day seasonal parking permits can be purchased in advance via credit/debit card and then posted directly to you at home - best now purchased online. The weekly tickets allow you to use a number of other car parks in the area which can be useful when out and about. All in all a truly lovely place with a super atmosphere and quirky feel, we think you’ll love it! Mortehoe is a pretty little place, easy to get to Grunta beach (if you don't mind the hill!), and easy to get to Woolacombe whether by taking the road or walking over the hill. The cottage itself was very well appointed, with a good view from the terrace, and I really appreciated the utility room with not only a washing machine but plenty of room to hang up the towels, swimming stuff etc to actually dry - this makes a huge difference on this kind of holiday. The village of Mortehoe has everything you need and all within walking distance. It’s a brilliant base to explore the North Devon area from and if you enjoy walking and swimming you will be spoiled for choice. It’s close enough to nearby villages if you wanted to explore and have a day out but the location of the cottage is perfect with plenty to do in the immediate area. The cottage has everything you need with a very well equipped kitchen if you wanted to cook at home. It also has a lovely deck with a view of the sea which is a great spot for a morning coffee with a book or evening drink. The bedrooms have plenty of space and it even has a laundry room the living room and dinning table are amply large with that good view all in all a splendid place to base yourselves. If your walkers like us you will enjoy leaving the car and setting out on foot in Mortehoe as the coastal trail is stunning as is the walk behind the Bakery to Woolacombe. The property is unassuming from the outside but lovely on the inside the view of the sea from the balcony was fantastic. Would definitely stay again 👌🏼 ##### April J. Stayed many times, would stay again. Very clean and great location. We have stayed many times at this property. Great location, very convenient and great views. It has definitely improved over the years we have been staying ie new kitchen TV etc. We do feel however it needs new more comfortable furniture in the lounge area and the dining table and chairs are awful. Sep 20, 2021 #### Old Bakery Cottage Mortehoe This was a real find for us and did not expect such a well equipped self contained property. Our stay was for 7 nights in a very quiet village with two pubs, a fish and chip shop and a specialist take away shop. The ground floor contained three spacious bedrooms, a bathroom and laundry room. One bedroom had an suite which was small but convenient. The 1st floor contained kitchen, lounge and dining area leading onto a large external patio area with views to the sea and hills at the back of the property. This layout proved to be the selling point of the property. Would definitely book this property again especially as it was ideally placed for visiting Ilfracombe, Woolacombe and other nearby places. ##### John M. ### 10/10 Excellent #### Susan P. The property met our expectations. very well organised and documented by the agents and owners. Location was excellent. Would highly recommend to anyone for a holiday or short break.
