Lake cabin family trip

The cabin was spacious and clean. The owner came by and greeted. He was super helpful and polite. The cabin was well stocked with. Hand soap, toiletries, dishwasher detergent…you name it. This was the first VBRO stay I didn’t need to run to the store and get some because the owner kept everything well stocked. The beds were also comfortable and my little children had so much fun. The beach front was great and the docks were perfect for the kids to fish from. He let us use both docks which was great since we had 3 fishing boats. There was electricity down by the pier for charging too! The cabin was also close to fun attractions like mini golf, go karts, and horseback riding. Our stay was perfect and I would definitely stay again at Jim’s hide away.

Ken and Linda were very responsive to questions. Group of 7 ladies there to xc ski at Winter Park. Loved the sauna!! Large house with plenty of room for our group.

Great family cabin!

Great cabin for families! The home had everything we needed, even baby gates! Beautiful property with a beautiful view. The property manager is incredibly friendly and communicative. We had a great time, made great memories, and we can’t wait to come back!

Great house and beach!

We very much enjoyed our stay - the house was clean, had great access to the water, an awesome beach, the water was about the clearest I've seen. There were very close neighbors which was not a problem, we just prefer being more remote. The proximity to Minocqua couldn't be beat though!

Perfect location for snowmobile vacation

Big house sleeps 8 adults & 6 kids comfortably. Clean with all your household needs. Huge dinner table to eat meals and play games together. Cozy gas fireplace & spectacular view of lake.

Amazing week away!!

We would highly recommend Jim's Hideaway. It was a spacious home with lots of amenities. We had 3 families stay there, and everyone had their own space, did not feel cramped at all! Plenty of supplies included. The access to the lake and the bonus items provided made the trip a huge success. I highly recommend renting the boat for a day! Def a highlight of the trip. Owner was easy to work with and communicative. He was amazing! Quick to respond and act on anything we needed! 10/10 would stay there again!

What a fantastic property...

What a fantastic property! Absolutely beautiful and filled with many extra amenities. A lot of nice touches. Fishing was incredible. Caught limit in first two days. Loved hearing the loons on the lake and watching the eagles soar in the sky and dive for fish. We will definitely be back to stay at this paradise. P.S. The best place to sleep is in the sunroom!

Wonderful beach location

The location is excellent! Kids could run down to the pier to fish, play on the beach, swim to platform and jump off, adults could join them, those who didn't enjoyed being able to see them from the deck. Dock for our boat so going out fishing was so easy, just get in and go. Nice lake, good fishing. House is comfortable, well stocked kitchen including coffee pods for the Keurig, dishwasher soap and soap for washing machine, very generous hosts. Kayaks and peddle boats were fun. It is an older house but still nice.

Very rude owner, and this is very old house with a lot of things not working.

Be very careful about renting this property. This house is old and many things do not work. The water smells and tastes poorly and you have to buy store water in order to be able to cook. The oven broke on the second day. The bathroom knob literally fell off the wall. We reported many things. However, when we left, the owner was very rude sending us aggressive messages on the cell phone accusing us of what we had not damaged but what was not working from the beginning. The area is very pretty, but the owner is very unpleasant with anger management issues.

Wonderful home away from home

Wonderful home on low traffic clear lake. We had 7 adults, 4 children and a Golden Retriever. Rented a pontoon from a local business and brought our fishing boat. Docking them both was a little tight, but well worth the maneuvering. Fishing was not good, but we enjoyed the perfect weather for tubing and swimming. Ther beach was excellent. Our 15 month old Golden is an official dock diver! The kitchen and livingroom were roomy and accommodated all of us well. Bring sharp knives with you and some storage containers or ziplock bags. Two closets with shelving were great for storing lots of snacks and beverages. The sun porch was where we stored our yard and water toys and games because the livingroom had lots of seating along with the large dining table. The laundry room was an absolute bonus for drying wet towels from the kids and dog. Lots of yard space around the cottage and behind the garage. WiFi wasn't great, but improvements are in the near future. After trying new locations for our annual family vacation over the past three years, we've found our new spot and have already booked next year. Only 51 weeks to go! Thank you Ken and Linda, your service is top notch!

Highly Recommend this Cabin!

We had the pleasure to stay here for a whole week with our 6 children and 2 dogs and it was PERFECT! The cabin was just the right size for all of us to spread out and truly relax. The weather was a little cool for us to take full advantage of the lake and beach, however there was so much else to do in the area it kept us busy. There are miles and miles of well groomed paved bike trails that were easy enough for all of our kids to handle. Park your car and there is a beautiful 8 mile bike ride to either Boulder Junction or if you head the other direction you will take a smooth 8 miles into Sayner. Both little towns are wonderful. We recommend eating at the Beer Bar in Boulder Junction, the food is AMAZING!! I had a smoked chicken sandwich with white bbq sauce on it.. Loved it! My daughter had a basked of chicken tenders with fries and the chicken was battered in a beer batter, like what you usually find on fish. Needless to say it was really good. Our boys had their homemade pizza and it was delicious. Back to the cabin.. We loved that there was a well stocked kitchen with all of the little necessities that you need. The bathrooms were very clean and well stocked with plenty of towels for all of us. I really appreciated the full size washer and dryer right off of the kitchen. I was able to have all of our clothes and beach towels washed before we left, which made unpacking a breeze! The bedrooms were very spacious and comfortable. There were even down comforters tucked away in the closets for those chilly nights. I have already recommended the Lake Rest Cabins to a friend. I highly recommend this cabin to anyone wanting a cozy retreat in the woods. Thank You to the hosts Ken & Linda! We will be back : )

Great week - GREAT vacation spot!!!

Oh, where to begin. We have been to the Arbor Vitae/Boulder Junction/Minocqua area over 40 times in the past 20 years. We stayed at Jim's Hideaway one time several years ago in fall, and loved it. This was our first time in summer at this locale, and first time with a WHOLE extended family. 2 senior citizens, 4 middle aged folks, three teens and a dog. PROS: Where to begin? -Five LARGE bedrooms on three levels led to more than adequate privacy. -The house is not a "cottage". It is a HOUSE. An executive, well built, well maintained, well stacked house. This is unusual for rentals in the northwoods. -The amenities are FANTASTIC. Washer/dryer is always welcome with sand and swim. The included firewood (all split nicely) saved us a small fortune. The beds are COMFY and sheets/towels/comforters are more hotel quality than "cabin-esque". -The "toys" that are included (rowboats, paddle boats, canoe, life preservers) saved us on boat rentals. If we wanted a pontoon, the owners had an inexpensive option for renting. -The beach is GREAT for kids and adults alike. -The fire pit area is private and large. -The place is dog friendly, but does not smell "doggy" like most rentals. Additionally, it is not furnished like most places that allow dogs either. NICE! -The PRIVACY of this place is unparalleled. Most large rentals are stuffed on smaller lots that used to house small cottages. Not this place. The land that Lake Rest Cabins has is amazing. Never once did we hear the neighbors, and I doubt they heard us. At night all we hears was loons and owls. -Finally, the location. Oh, the location! So close to Minocqua that you can run to the grocery store daily, get a MKE Journal right down the road, bike paths, other lakes and golf is close, shopping is close. A great supper club is down the road. CONS: I truly cannot think of one. The weather was iffy, but it is Wisconsin. That happens. Literally not one thing I would change. For the money, this place is MAGIC for families, couples or simply friends that want privacy, north woods and do not want to feel like they stayed in a "cottage". This beautiful home is perfect. Would stay again if we needed a larger place in a minute. The owners do a GREAT job in maintaining and scheduling the property. Check in/out works like clockwork. We were advised of total bill the minute we booked, and had ample time to pay. P.S. We have also stayed in their other 2 cabins - ALL VERY NICE!!!

wonderful long weekend with family

Jim’s Hideaway is very well appointed and welcoming to large groups/families. The kitchen has everything you’ll need for ann extended stay and some things you’ll probably realize you didn’t! The property is very spacious and beds very comfortable. We truly appreciated being able to bring our dogs along and allow them to enjoy vacation with us. We were hoping to snowmobile during our stay, but Mother Nature had different plans this winter 🙄 Close to many restaurants and even better supper clubs!

Nice stay, tough weather

Property was very nice. Pictures on VRBO were a little deceiving. Maintenance of property. For Northwoods properties, or any properties in rural areas, I think there should be some mention of water quality, for drinking. Had to buy many bottles and gallons for our group!
