: room is great and CLEAN, checkin staff super friendly and helpful. Quiet and close to town if you want to go in a walk the Ice Age Trail on the historic Portage tow path. Would stay here again in a heart beat

Loud/rude housekeepers
I have stayed at this location many times and typically don’t have an issue. However, this time my opinion was definitely lowered after the housekeepers stood in the hall outside of my room for at least 20 min having a loud conversation. It woke my up and could not go back to sleep. This was around 7am. Not happy about it.

This was definitely a case of you get what you pay for. It was not soundproofed so I heard my neighbor's tv and every conversation in the hall or outside near my room. The room was mostly clean, but there was dirt behind the bathroom door and cobwebs on the ceiling. No recycling. The lobby restroom had no paper towels. The front desk staff was adequate. No problems but not friendly either. Lumpy pillows. Comfortable recliner though.

Snafu between hotels.com and facility - facility did NOT have my reservation, placed months earlier - luckily, I checked in Early, or they might not have had Anything available - but I had to go from two beds to one to get handicapped access for my helper - they put us right next to the back door for easier handicap access, BUT the back door access was woefully inadequate, uneven concrete and a Very small door slab with a VERY heavy back door - after that, finding a roach (bug, not joint) in the towels - my helper declined to stay ... The room was adequate otherwise, though the shower hose leaked and the head was partly clogged... And at least one of the dresser drawers were broken - also, milk in breakfast area was a frozen brick 1st morning - mentioned it to staff - STILL solid 3rd morning, with the juice machine out-of-order...

Motel review
The room seemed clean. The toilet seat looked like it got chewed on by a dog. The door handles to the outside of the motel were broken. The grass was not trimmed and there was garbage around the building and lawn. The motel is sort of rundown. It needs updating.

Decent basic place
Was hesitant, having seen a recent horrible review and their no-refund policy, but knew I would be there 8 hrs or less, mostly asleep. The only negatives the bad review listed that applied to my stay were that the breakfast was a little sparse and the toilet seat was only the 'not sitting on porcelain' part, no 'can't see the water' part. Did notice my room door did not auto-close all the way so had to pull it closed when I went out. Otherwise, recently nicely remodeled, locks all worked, clean comfy bed, good value for the price/area, would definitely consider coming back if need a room in the area.

The room and property very clean and tidy. Close to Walmart, kwik trip, and a few restaurants. Friendly, helpful staff. No elevator to the upper floors. Quite a few breakfast options. Overall, a very relaxing stay.

Don’t Waste Your Money
I guess I was expecting more based off reviews; I will not be returning to this hotel. The interior walls were very dirty with reddish/brown splatters on them, the chain door guard was missing a piece so I could not lock it, and there was no toilet seat. In addition, the security lock on the outside door from the parking lot was broken, so anyone could enter the hotel without a keycard. The stairs and hallways also smelled old and musty/smokey… This hotel definitely needs a makeover in all aspects!!

It was pretty standard for a small town hotel. There was breakfast but it was minimal. Maybe I was late, maybe they just have the waffle irons out for show but they weren't on and they didn't have any batter. The room was clean, nice, and a typical hotel room. The bathroom was small and didn't have a fan for the shower.

A pleasant surprise
I was pleasantly surprised by the Super 8 in Portage. My expectations weren't high, based on past experience with Super 8 but this was a clean, comfortable hotel with friendly staff.

Weve stayed here about 6 time and this is the first time we had issues. The first room we checked into had a non working microwave and a sink that that wouldn't drain because the stopper was stuck. After relaying this to the front desk, they only had another 1st floor room but it didn't have a refrigerator in it. They said they could move one into the new room but they didn't know how long it would take. Once we got into the new room,we discovered one of the lamps didn't work. We also noticed some paint pealing in the bathroom. So we just stayed in the room as is but hopefully this was just a bad time. Over all maintenance on the property slipped from the last time we stayed

Room needs a really really good vacuum, a plastic tag was on the floor from a new piece of clothing from previous guest, very dusty along the walls. Soft spots in the flooring in our room & hallway. Needs new beds. It was convenient for our stay but will probably not stay again if we are in the area. Needs updating.

Super 8 has been around a long time. I don't expect perfection at Super 8, they're all getting old. This place in Portage is the exception. Room is spotless, everything is functional. For the money this is a ten!

Cobwebs by the floorlamp base, bathtub mat was unsteady (this was an accessible room), bathroom fan didn't work. Otherwise it was comfortable and clean. Wifi was good.
