The pictures are grossly unrepresented of what the property actually looks like. The lobby is dark and dingy and very uninviting. They asked for a $200 deposit which we felt was over priced. Any damage we could do to the property would have been an improvement. We got our key and went to the elevator, upon entering you are smacked in the face with a vomit and urine smell. The hallways are the perfect place for someone to get kidnapped again uninviting, dark and dangerous. We entered the very small room and was immediately engulfed with the smell of mildew and mold. There were holes (that I can only describe as bullet holes) in the walls, the floor was sticky, the "view" was to another building looking in on people through a moldy and dirty window. The curtains were falling off the wall, the lights didn't work. As soon as we entered the room we immediately booked another hotel and left. The Marlborough Hotel should be ashamed that they are taking guests. This hotel need a complete interior overhaul. What may have been a nice hotel at one time is nothing more than a crack house now. If you want to be murdered than please stay here. If you value your life, you should book at a better hotel. Like the Fairmont (which is where we ended up going). Expedia should immediately take this hotel off their docket!!

The hotel has been cleaned up since new ownership. There was no crowd outside, and the second you walked inside there was an immediate difference. Bright, spacious, clean, and friendly as you walk inside. Their efforts to upgrade are not unnoticed. This is a very old building, so some things will look dated, old, used, but they are slowly updating as they go. Front desk agents were so friendly, and it was nice to have that after the very long day we had. Our room was a suite- it was huge! Bathroom was still the small bathroom, but as I said, this building is old, and I don’t spend much time in there so it didn’t bother me. The bed was so comfortable, I slept all night. This is a rare occurrence for me. We had to pick up our car by 9am or we would have stayed for breakfast. This would be the biggest downside is parking is either at the garage next door or one of the other parking garages close by. The one next door was being renovated so it was difficult to find the entrance and we parked underground at portage. It was safe, but came with an early morning time stamp. There are many bad reviews on this hotel, but the new employees are doing a fantastic job! There wasn’t one employee I passed that didn’t great me with a smile. I give this property a 9/10 and will be back again!

I didn’t feel safe when I stayed there because the electric wires are dangling all around the room and they are damaged and taped by some black tapes. Also the entire hotel smells rotten. More weird is the exercise room full of trash, not enough lights, equipments are broke. This is the worst hotel I’ve ever been stayed in my entire life.
