I am from Winnipeg and rarely stay in hotels, but for this trip, I chose to stay at a hotel with my teenage son as a family event had taken up all available guest rooms; we were mainly there to sleep so I wanted cheap, clean and quiet above all. I had never heard of this place but the reviews were good so we gave it a shot. First, it's very, very clean and well-maintained. Staff was friendly and dealt quickly with a minor plumbing issue we had. But, although we saw multiple (very recent) reviews talking about the breakfast - and even with photos of breakfast - we were told there is no breakfast. We were ok with that, but it was really confusing. The worst part of our stay was the noise from the room above. The stomping made the walls shake, It woke us from sleep in the early morning hours every day. And I don't think they were doing it on purpose, but the lack of carpet (which I get, easier to clean) and age and the construction of the building leave little soundproofing. Other than that noise, the hotel was very quiet. But being woken before dawn by what sounds like elephants will ruin a stay that was largely meant to be a good night's sleep. If we ever stay again, we'll ask for the second floor. That said, I think we'll go down the street somewhere with a free breakfast and some soundproofing.
