Ocean Watch Villas is an intimate community of just eight oceanfront townhomes in the absolute heart of Surf City. Known as the colorful “Candy Colored Homes,” they are easily recognizable as you cross the bridge onto Topsail Island. The location is hard to beat: the Atlantic Ocean is right outside your door, while restaurants, coffee shops, ice cream shops, breweries, bars, the grocery store, parks, entertainment and many of Surf City’s favorite spots are all within walking distance.

Many of our guests tell us they park their car when they arrive and do not use it again until it is time to go home.

But location is only part of what makes this home special.

OCEANFRONT LIVING

This is truly an oceanfront home. Spend your mornings drinking coffee while watching the waves, your afternoons enjoying the beach or pool, and your evenings relaxing on the covered oceanfront decks.

We have invested in comfortable high-top outdoor seating so you can sit back and enjoy the view rather than looking through the deck railings. Whether you are watching dolphins in the surf, keeping an eye on the kids at the beach or pool, or simply enjoying the ocean breeze with a cold drink, the outdoor spaces may become your favorite “room” in the house.

And when Surf City celebrates with fireworks, you may find that one of the best places to enjoy them is right from the comfort of your own decks.

HEATED OCEANFRONT COMMUNITY POOL

When you want a break from the sand, Ocean Watch Villas has its own private community pool exclusively for guests of the eight homes.

The pool is heated to approximately 85 degrees from April through October, making it much more enjoyable during the spring and fall seasons as well as during summer.

You get the best of both worlds: step directly onto the beach when you want the ocean, or relax by the pool when you would rather skip the sand.

ROOM FOR EVERYONE, WITH PRIVACY TOO

One of the features we particularly appreciate about this floor plan is that the four primary bedrooms each have their own private en-suite full bathroom. That can make a tremendous difference when several couples or generations vacation together.

The sleeping arrangements include:
• Three King bedrooms
• One bunk room with a custom Twin XL-over-Queen bunk plus a custom Twin-over-Twin bunk
• One additional ground-floor “overflow room” with a custom Twin-over-Full bunk

Our bunk beds were custom designed with more headroom than typical bunk beds and are fitted with quality mattresses. We wanted them to feel like real sleeping accommodations rather than an afterthought.

The fifth bedroom is what we affectionately call the “overflow room.” It does not have its own private bathroom, but it provides an actual bedroom for additional guests rather than requiring someone to sleep in the living room on a sofa bed.

YES, THERE IS AN ELEVATOR

Anyone who has carried suitcases, groceries, coolers and beach gear through a multi-level beach house knows what a difference an elevator can make.

The home's elevator makes it much easier to move luggage, groceries and family members between floors so you can spend less energy hauling things upstairs and more time enjoying your vacation.

BEDDING MATTERS TO US

Before owning homes on Topsail Island, we rented vacation homes here for nearly 30 years. One lesson we learned repeatedly was that a beautiful house and a wonderful location do not mean much if you cannot get a good night's sleep.

That is why comfortable bedding has always been a priority in our properties.

We provide premium mattresses and quality bed linens, because we believe a vacation home should be a place where you can actually rest. After a long day of swimming, surfing, fishing, exploring Surf City or simply enjoying the beach, a comfortable bed matters.

A KITCHEN DESIGNED FOR REAL FAMILY VACATIONS

When an extended family travels together, the kitchen becomes the center of the home.

We have worked to make ours genuinely useful, with an extensive collection of cookware, utensils, kitchen gadgets and serving pieces for guests who want to cook and share meals together. We even have turkey roasters for those big family dinners and holiday stays.

There is generous dining space as well, with seating for 10 around the dining table plus four additional seats at the kitchen counter.

OUR “PAY IT FORWARD” PANTRY

One of the traditions in our homes is something we call the Pay It Forward Pantry.

At the beginning of the prime season, we stock a variety of spices, pantry basics, coffee, paper products, laundry supplies, kitchen non-perishables, condiments, and other useful items. Guests are welcome to use what is available.

We simply ask that if you use the last of something, that you please replace it for the next family. Likewise, if you purchase a non-perishable item during your vacation and do not want to take it home, you are welcome to leave it behind for the next guests to enjoy.

Inventory naturally varies from stay to stay, so we cannot promise that a particular item will be waiting for you, but the tradition has become a small part of the hospitality we enjoy sharing with our guests.

BEACH CHAIRS, THE SAME PAY-IT-FORWARD IDEA

You will also frequently find folding beach chairs at the property that previous guests have left for others to enjoy.

Because salt, sun and sand are famously hard on beach equipment, we cannot guarantee the number or condition of beach chairs available for any particular stay. If you use one and it reaches the end of its beach-going life, we simply encourage you to replace it for the next guest when possible.

It is another little tradition that helps everyone pack a bit lighter.

PREMIUM FURNISHINGS AND CONSTANT IMPROVEMENTS

We believe furnishings matter.

We continually invest in our homes rather than treating them as properties that are furnished once and forgotten. From furniture and bedding to outdoor seating, décor, technology and amenities, we regularly upgrade and refresh the property with one goal in mind: we want guests to walk through the door and immediately feel that the home is cared for.

The home features quality finishes, including porcelain tile, premium vinyl plank flooring, substantial trim work and 10-foot ceilings. The construction and insulation also help provide separation and quiet when several generations or families are sharing the home.

NEED TO CHECK IN WITH THE OFFICE?

We certainly hope you can leave work behind, but we know that is not always possible.

For guests who need to check email, join a meeting or take care of a little business during their stay, one of the King bedrooms includes a small dedicated workspace with a desk, chair and computer monitor. The home also has a commercial-grade router designed to provide reliable internet service throughout the property.

Then close the laptop and get back to the beach.

FREE 1:00 PM EARLY CHECK-IN

Your vacation should start as soon as possible.

Rather than making you wait until late afternoon to begin settling in, we offer our guests complimentary 1:00 PM early check-in.

That extra time can make a surprising difference. Unpack, get the groceries put away, change into your swimsuit and start enjoying the beach while much of the afternoon is still ahead of you.

SECURITY & PRIVACY

For the protection of our guests and property, the home is equipped with a Ring doorbell camera located at the exterior entrance. There are no cameras inside the home.

PARKING

Covered parking beneath the home accommodates three large vehicles. Depending on vehicle size, four compact vehicles may sometimes fit entirely within the designated parking area. To be safe, you should anticipate parking only 3 cars on the property.

Vehicles cannot extend into the driveway or park in Ocean Watch Villas common areas, where towing restrictions are enforced. If your group brings additional vehicles, paid public parking is conveniently located across the street, with weekly parking options available.

TRAVELING WITH A LARGE OR MULTIGENERATIONAL GROUP?

This is one of the things that truly sets our properties apart.

We own three of the eight homes within Ocean Watch Villas, including Hook Wine & Sinker, Sea for Yourself and Sea-King Refuge. This creates a wonderful option for larger or multigenerational groups that want to vacation together while still having the privacy and sanity that comes with separate homes.

For groups needing even more space, we also own an eight-bedroom oceanfront home with an elevator and private pool approximately four blocks away in the 400 block of South Shore Drive.

Grandparents, adult children, cousins and friends can all vacation close to one another without everyone having to live under the same roof.

THE BEST PART? YOU ARE IN THE HEART OF SURF CITY

Walk out one direction and you are at the ocean. Walk the other and Surf City is waiting.

You can walk for coffee or donuts in the morning, head back to the beach, stroll to lunch, visit local shops, enjoy a brewery or cocktail, have dinner nearby, or take the kids for ice cream or to seasonal community events without organizing the entire family into cars every time someone wants to go somewhere.

That freedom is one of the reasons we love Ocean Watch Villas so much.

We spent nearly 30 years vacationing on Topsail Island before we had the opportunity to own here, and those years taught us a lot about what makes a vacation rental truly enjoyable.
