This historical hotel is beyond beautiful ! The lobby, the events rooms and the restaurant Le Chevalier are exquisitely decorated. The room itself was luxuriously decorated, the bed very comfortable but unfortunately the heat was not working….I was freezing ( I’ve visited right before Christmas) I’ve complained to the reception and luckily an engineer with an assistant promptly addressed the issue. Hotel is beautiful, full of character. Built in 1913? Very comfortable bed and pillows. Nice little living area. Only complaint was the water pressure, or lack of.

Beautiful historic Wilmington Hotel
Hôtel DuPont is a beautiful, historic hotel, conveniently located in downtown Wilmington. Our room was spacious, well-equipped, and very comfortable. The staff was very friendly. In fact, the first evening we were there, as we were walking around exploring the hotel, Robert from Security offered to give us a personalized tour, showing us the magnificent ballroom and explaining the history and artistry of the fixtures. Another nice feature of the hotel is that they have a free shuttles available for local transport available on a first, first serve basis. We were able to use it several time for places we were going that were not walking distance. On the less positive side, service at the hotel was uneven. We ate breakfast at the hotel’s Cavalier restaurant the three mornings we were there. The restaurant is gorgeous. It has the feel of an authentic French Brasserie. The menu is decent and the food was mostly quite good, but service, while friendly, was spotty two of the three days we were there, and on one morning it was downright confused. The third morning, with a different server, it was excellent. Similarly, housekeeping the first day we were there was excellent. However, the second day, we were out from 10 am till 3:30, but when we got back to the room it hadn’t be cleaned. So we had to call to request housekeeping service, at that late hour. Overall though, we did really enjoy our stay and we Hotel DuPont is an excellent choice for visitors to Willmington

There wasn’t any water in the room for to drink. Room service works limited time. When I needed they aren’t working. And toilet flush works constantly. The hotel looks so historical and beautiful.

We had a very nice stay. The hotel was clean and service was good. We were given an impressive tour by a security guard who knew the history and decor of the building which helped us to notice the thematic patters throughout the hotel. The Le Cavalier restaurant was very nice, service excellent and food was outstanding.

Great night in Wilmington. Had Dinner at a local Italian restaurant and a night at Longwood Gardens, it’s about 20 minutes drive from the hotel. Beautiful lobby and bar/restaurant. Highly recommended

I stayed in room 722, king bed with lots of room. Only stayed one night and for the price, over $400 a night, I was a bit disappointed. The overall room was okay however the entrance door to the room did not shut properly. The major disappointment was the bathroom. The sink was clogged and the water would not drain, (did not notify staff until check-out due to did not want a maintenance intrusion or room change since only for a night). The shower spout was bulging out and the toilet pressure was low. Overall the was okay but for five star prices, I would expect a hell of a lot more. The property is huge and has a restaurant, very good drinks. The hotel spans several blocks in a square and also has a eatery accessible from the hotel. I personally would not stay here again, not for the over $400 dollar price. My wife let the staff know about the room issues and the staff did not charge us for valet parking. We were not looking for anything but that was a nice gesture.

The lobby of this hotel is exquisite but that is its sole good point. The rooms are nightmares. They are either too hot or too cold. At 11:30 at night we had a worker with a huge ladder in our room trying to fix things, making sleep impossible. And he failed. Basic linens are lacking: we had no bathmat the first night and no fitted sheet. There is only one small mirror which shows you only from the chin up. The room coffee machine was hard to work. The room itself was very tiny and lacking in such touches as robes or anything to make it nicer. It took two requests for blankets to arrive. No fans In the bathrooms so the shower steam lingers. We left there more exhausted than when we arrived.

The hotel Is fabulous. Beautiful and historic. Sadly, the area it is in is very dangerous. Would not recommend going to the area without protection. My husband and so we’re mugged 2 blocks from the property. Will not be returning

I wish we had stayed longer
We were in Delaware for a short time & stayed at the Hotel DuPont for one night. We should have stayed longer. What a beautiful hotel! The lobby was richly detailed with an amazing ceiling. Our room was spacious-larger than our first apartment! It was classically styled but comfortable. The staff was so courteous. The bar was cozy. The restaurant was beautiful with good service & good food. We look forward to a return visit

Our AC did not work! They didn’t have a room to move us to. We were very uncomfortable and got! Would like a refund please. We paid extra to ensure comfort and a good night sleep.

Hotel DuPont in decline
This has always been a special place for myself and my wife. Our wedding night was spent here and we’ve returned for special occasions several times throughout the years. Our latest visit was to celebrate our 23rd anniversary. Almost everything was fine except the bathroom. I’m used to the Hotel DuPont always being on top of their attention to detail. Our room had a jet tub and shower. The tub took over an hour to drain. There was a significant crack in the countertop. There were smudges on the mirror. There was dust on the edge of the sink. It just felt like it wasn’t cleaned to their normal level. Also, while the rest of the room was nice, the bathroom looked like it had last been updated 40+ years ago. It was still a nice place, but it was definitely not as nice as it used to be.
