Willemstad, the capital of Curaçao, is a vibrant and colorful city located on the southern coast of the island in the heart of the Caribbean. The city is divided into two central districts, Punda and Otrobanda, meaning “the other side,” which are connected by the iconic Queen Emma Bridge. Although public transportation is available, it is limited and can be unreliable. Scooters are fun for short distances, especially around areas like Jan Thiel, but are not ideal for exploring the more expansive island due to hilly terrain and busy roads.
