Room was large and clean. Bed was small but comfortable.

This hotel was fine for two nights but I have qualms about recommending it. The location is in the east end of St John’s and it’s a good 20-minute, not terribly pleasant walk to downtown. It’s be okay if you have a car. The beds need replacing; the mattresses are very soft, the bed frames squeak loudly and the pillows aren’t comfy. The breakfast was pretty good and our server was pleasant, as was the cleaning staff. The woman at the front desk when we arrived was welcoming but the night staff seemed like they would rather be somewhere else. There’s no concierge, so no one to get info from. Overall, it was just okay.

We checked in on Wednesday afternoon and were told housekeeping would be every two days. In reality, it only happened once—on Saturday, the day before we left. That meant we used the same linens and towels for more than three days. The towels themselves were poor quality; after about five uses they were already soggy and rank. The room had multiple issues. It was hot and musty with no windows, and the air-conditioning unit was so loud we couldn’t run it at night without being kept awake. We were only given enough coffee for one day. The chair beside the bed had no padding—you almost fall right through it—and was certainly not a comfortable bedside chair. Electrical safety was a serious concern and potential fire hazard: there were four power strips in the small room, daisy-chained (plugged into each other). Multiple power bars and extension cords everywhere created an obvious overload risk that felt dangerous. The bathroom was especially problematic. The shower had almost no pressure, and a continual puddle kept collecting in front of the wash basin. We never figured out exactly where the water was coming from, but it was always present and never resolved. On the positive side, the breakfast was wonderful and the servers were excellent—friendly, attentive, and a real highlight of the stay. Without the great breakfast and staff, this would have been a much more negative experience overall.
