A Little Disappointed
My wife and I recently stayed at the Whistler Pan Pacific Mountainside for a week-long getaway vacation. We normally stay at the Hilton, which we feel provides good value, but we had heard good things about the Pan Pacific brand, and thought we would splurge a bit.
When we arrived, check-in was quick and easy. The underground parking was close and convenient. One quick note of caution; we were driving a Ford Expedition, and while there was no issue with ceiling height, the spots were very narrow, even for a smaller car. Because of the pandemic, the hotel wasn’t very full, so we managed to find a section of three spots where someone with a smaller truck had overflowed into a spot and a third. We took another spot and a third. Had there been more cars, there is no way our SUV would have fit.
The lobby was small but fine. Not the luxury feel we had expected, but adequate and functional. Location is great, right at the base of the lifts and you are close to all of the restaurants and shops (of course, nothing is too far in Whistler). The highlight of the hotel is the outdoor heated pool and hot tubs. Very warm, even in the snow, and a good size for some easy laps.
The most disappointing part of the experience was the room. While the size was fine and the kitchenette functional, it felt very tired and dated. Think an old Hampton Inn without the free continental breakfast. Felt very 1994 (or ‘84?). I would not recommend.
