On the plus side, Blackcomb lodge is affordable and right in the middle of all things Whistler village.
It’s an easy walk to either Whistler or Blackcomb gondola.
In terms of neither here, nor there, BL is independently owned, meaning that you will not get any loyalty points and not be able to leverage any points from your business travel.
On the down side, BL is not very accessible even for able bodied people. This is an old property. We parked in the parking garage and grabbed all of our gear. There was no way for us to easily get up into the check in desk as the only door up was locked.
We walked out of the garage and around to the front of the hotel, only to find all of the doors also locked. We had to buzz in.
Once we were admitted, we had to carry all of our luggage and snowboard gear through two small security doors, and up multiple small sets of stairs.
There was a ramp available, but we were not aware. I’m not sure what Blackcomb Losge is worried about and why their security is so tight. It makes for a poor guest experience.
As we were making our way to our rooms, other skiers were hanging their ski gear on racks and were right in the middle of the very narrow hallway to the elevator. We had t wait for them to hang their gear before proceeding.
All in all was it bad? No. It was comfortable, clean, and centrally located. But it lacks many of the modern hotel conveniences. Easy check in, accessible, easy to maneuver.
