Perched a mile above the Blackwater Canyon, on two plus acres, it also borders the Western Pocahontas property, some 68,000 acres of Wild West Va. A very private location adds to the aesthetics all while being close to the Thomas town center. The 2 1/2 bedroom, 2 full bath house sleeps up to eight people and has a great deck overlooking the "Moors" as well as a front porch overlooking Snyder Run. Hiking, Biking, Cross country skiing are just a few of the activities available from one of the best locations in the area. The Blackwater Canyon Trail is at the bottom of the hill, go right to Douglas Falls and left 3/4 mile into Thomas. If you are a Mt. House flies kept appearing, however. Lots of books and games to entertain you. Fully equipped kitchen is a plus. Easy access to Thomas and Davis by car, or Thomas by foot path.The furnace fan motor was so loud the floor vibrated. Eventually noise disappeared. Internet router lost connectivity daily. I texted owner; no reply. Router looks old. Hauling out trash at end of stay was not inconvenient but would have appreciated a heads up beforehand-maybe I missed those instructions. The dumpster at the transfer station at end of street was overflowing with trash bags; the parking lot was dirty, dusty, and dry. This calls out for an alternative method. ##### robert g. The cabin was really a house and very clean and well appointed. It overlooked a stream (presumably Snyder Run) and the area was pretty awesome. The house is located on an exceptional piece of property. I have never seen such beautiful, fall foliage. And it’s a very easy walk to town along a rail trail path. It's the last house on a dead-end street with only one other home. Note: the neighbors have two off-leash labs that came to the property daily. Be mindful if your dog is also off-leash. I was not concerned they would bite or attack, but they barked a lot when out. It was quiet (when neighbor dogs weren't out) and secluded. The place was nicer than the pictures. The kitchen was stocked (just bring cooking oil or butter). I would stay here again if I were visiting. Bring tissues and soap/toiletries. ##### Melissa B. So beautiful. There was an apple tree which was a big hit with the Deer. A very cute town with some shopping and a few places for dinner.
